Where to start my review, other than a very warm welcome at the airport and straight into a mini van for ourselves(although there where more guests going to the hotel) to the jetty for the boat to takes to Rayavadee.
Arriving after around 20 minutes we met with our "butler" Jun, a lovely Chinese girl who was there for her internship. we walked from the jetty to our room and see showed some parts of the hotel during this walk.
When we got to our room, we were sort of disappointed and that has nothing to do with the resort, but all on us! We had just spent one week in two amazing Four Seasons so we were very spoilt.
After settling in and got unpacked, we had the feeling that we weren't happy at all.
we went for lunch and wanted to spent some time at the pool, the goal for these 5 days, were just relaxing by the pool and reading a book. At there pool, there was the second disappointment, the sun loungers aren't comfortable at all, they are really hard and not even a matras on it. There was no way that we could spent a whole day on these loungers. And again, we are probably very spoilt and where expecting to much!
So it's got worse instead of better, I even have tried to book the Ritz-Carlton en checking out of the Rayavadee!

Once we got back in our room, I called Jun what was going on and she got us Susan, I believe the General Manager of the hotel, she came up to our room and we discussed our "problem" and she really took it serious and try to find an answer, she took us to other rooms, but that wasn't doing it for us. there was no other availability due to other bookings and I couldn't cancel our booking without penalty of the whole payment and that was not going to happen. we just had to live with it and make the best of it. Susan gave us a tip to relax at the beach near the Grotto , they have loungers with really thick mattresses.
So went there later on. But Susan still keeping attacking us( in a very good way) while we where there and told us that she had something we would definitely like, if we could spare a view minutes and walk with her.
Than she took us to these beach villa, which was amazing and even had sun loungers with the same thick mattresses! We couldn't say no to her, even if we wanted to(not that we wanted it!) she just wanted to make us happy and boy did she.
we offered to pay extra for this villa, but that was not open for discusion!
I can easily say, that Susan is one of the best managers we came across in our travels and really caring for their guests!!
Of course we did saw her during our stay and she always came to chat with us and checking if everything was okay!
We wanted to say goodbye to her on our day of departure, but the evening before, we had dinner at Raitalay terrace, she came up in her jeans and shirt and wanted to say goodbye because she had an late shift the next day so we couldn't met her than. She even hugged us both and that was something we had never had before. I even have goosebumps when I am writing this. What an amazing lady!!!

Whe got a great deal when booking which was, of the 4 nights we stayed, we had 3 dinners included and you could eat wherever you wanted and whatever you wanted, 3 course(with 2 or so exceptions that you can pay extra for) we ate 2 nights at the Grotto and 1 night at Raitalay terrace. The first night at the Grotto, there was an really great singer and guitarist playing and they asked us we wanted to hear something special. We really love Frankie goes to Hollywood with the Power of Love, she didn't know this song, but she promised us on our last evening at Raitalay Terrace she is going to sing this song for us. And she did what she promised and sang for us this song, WOW, we had wet eyes. Thank you so much for this special memory!

When staying in a villa, you could also have breakfast at Raitalay terrace, it was á la carte, and not the best breakfast we had, but man, what an way to start your day on a terrace like that. Normally we eat breakfast in 30 min but these mornings we have breakfast for almost 2 hours.

To end this long review(sorry for that :-() we love the scenery and the resort grounds, the vegetation is amazing, something new to see on every corner. it was great people watching from our Beach Villa. We loved Jun, our "butler" she gave us selfmade bracelets and a lovely card the night before we checkout. All the staff was amazing and very friendly.
But the big question, would we stay here again? The answer is going to be no, we are just not in love with the accommodation, but like I said, that's very personal.

Alert, Alert, Alert,

My Fellow American’s & Travelers!! If you are going to Krabi, Thailand, and looking for a First Class, Elegant, Unique, and a more Traditional Thai & Jungle Style Hotel/Resort to stay, then look no further than The Rayavadee, and hit the “Book it Now” button, before you miss out on a great opportunity and a great place to stay away from the Big Name Hotel/Resorts. It is actually so secluded, there is a private Resort Boat, that takes you to the property, only accessible by water.

Let me be the first to say, and the last review you read, that helps you with your decision to choosing The Rayavadee. When you are at the property, either in your Private Hydro Pool Villa, at the Spectacular Main Pool, or at one of the Romantic & Delicious Restaurants, take a look to the skies and give me a special toast and Amen :) As I give you a special toast now, that you took our review and listened, to be able to have those wonderful moments, experiences, and memories for the lifetime. The Rayavadee is definitely a property, that is unique, one of a kind, and a once in a lifetime experience. You will feel like you are in a movie. Especially, when you are in the incredible Main Pool.

To begin, all great reviews should honor those, that made ones stay, so memorable and wonderful. For those reasons, and for these great memories, we would like to give a special thank you to the Owner, the Premier Group of Companies. For having such a unique, beautiful, wonderful, and memorable property. The Rayavadee is really a one of a kind property, that will provide a lifetime of memories, and a once in a lifetime experience. There are a few special individuals at the Rayavadee, that we would like to give a special thank you to and wish them a long career at the property. For it was these individuals, that stood out like the stars they are, understand the meaning of a Higher Standard of Service, genuinely love the property that they are representing, and want the Guests to leave with the best impressions to return in the future. .

In special recognition, I/We would like to give a special thank you to Khun Rocky, our Private Butler. Khun Rocky is a wonderful, kind, caring, and respectful spirit. The Premier Group of Companies and the Property Manager, could not have chosen a better individual to represent the property and your product, in this position. He is definitely a first class individual, that is professional, polite, and at the service for his Guests, He should be greatly considered as a tremendous asset to the Owners & Management and we hope to see Khun Rocky, for many years, as a Private Butler at your property. Thank you again Khun Rocky, for always being there for us, making us feel special during our stay, and for being so nice and friendly. Your World Class and a great asset to the Rayavade. May many blessings fall upon you and your family, for being such a great person :) We look forward Rocky to seeing you again soon :) If you want a great Private Butler, ask for Rocky or May. They are the two gems of the property and waiting to insure a great stay for their Private Guests. May was not even our Butler, but was the Butler next door, who also wanted to help. Both are First Class Butlers for the Rayavadee.

Who is the most important man on property when you are hungry? I feel very special to now call this man my new friend and this wonderful Chef is classy, professional, friendly, and serves some of the most delicious food you will eat. There is no reason to ever leave the Rayavadee. Chef Romain, take a bow for being a World Class Chef. I want to highlight you in this review and say to every Reader, “Go experience Chef’s Romain’s at the Rayavadee.” The Premiere Group of Companies or who ever brought Chef Romain to the property, complimented the Rayavadee with some of the best in the World. Not only for the delicious quality and freshness of his food that he prepares, but for being such a wonderful and beautiful human and spirit. A real Master of his profession and a tremendous asset to the Rayavadee. Thank you Chef Romain for everything. Thank you for your great Hospitality, Service, Delicious Meals, and the Personal Attention you gave us throughout our stay and departure. We appreciate the friendship that we have made with you. We hope that we continue our friendship for many years in the future. And, we hope that we see you again, as the Executive Chef, of such a wonderful, unique, and classy property, the Reayavadee, for many years to come. May you and your Wife have a blessed 2017 and Beyond Chef Romain :) Keep in touch!!

It is our understanding, that this special individual, has been with the property over 20 years and since it has opened. He has definitely earned his rank, as the Breakfast Buffet Manager. He is on top of things and it shows why he is in this position. Khun Sert, thank you for being such a great Host during our stay at the included Breakfast Buffet. You were always so friendly, nice, and catering to our needs. We appreciate the great service and for that, may the Premiere Group of Companies, continue to see you as a great asset to the Rayavadee for the remainder of your career :) Hopefully, you will retire at the Rayavadee and when we come back, we will get to see your friendly, happy, and smiling face again. Bless your family :)

Here is another special thank you, to a person, who has also earned her ranks up through the years of service at the Rayavadee. We can see how this wonderful person has made it into the position and how she has become an asset to the property, Wait no more, for the woman, that made it all happen by phone, Ree. Thank you Ree, for being so accommodating. You took our call, made things happen with your General Manager on such short notice, and we were so blessed and fortunate to accept such generosity, in the upgrade to the Private Hydro Pool Villa. Amazing and we appreciate the great Hospitality. We want to say, “Thank you for the Buggy service to the Dr. on our last hours before departure. Thank you for being so nice, friendly, and it was always a pleasure to see your smile, when we ran into you on property. Have a blessed 2017 and beyond too. We hope to see you again, when we return to the beautiful Rayavadee.

To all those that we failed to mention…… As you get older, one of the first things to go is your memory. I/We, want to say, “Thank you very much for always showing a friendly and happy smile when we passed by or if you personally served us (Buggy Drivers Especially). Along with all of your colleagues mentioned above, it was all of you too, that made our stay wonderful, relaxing, stress free, and a memorable experience. Just because we did not mention your names, does not mean you are any less special :) You know who you are :) We look forward to seeing all of your friendly smiles on our next visit. And, maybe next time, I/We, can write all your names down.

In closing, I/We would like the reader of this review to know, I/We are also in the Hospitality Business. The level of Standards that we expect, fall nothing short of the High Standards and Service, that we provide to our Guests. There are many review websites and companies that favor the Big Name Hotels/Resorts by giving them a 5 Star Rating. Are they truly 5 Star? To the diligent traveler, don’t let this be your only tool in making your decision. It is reviews like ours, that should help show you the path. Again, let this be your last review that you read, in making your decision to stay at The Rayavadee.. The Best!!

Here is how we arrived to our 5 Star Rating of the Rayavadee using the 3P Principals ( People + Product + Process = Happy Guests & Happy Management/Owners ).

1.) Location = 5 Stars :) There is no place on earth, that is like The Rayavadee. A must experience!! The location is out of a movie. You have to arrive by private Rayavadee boat, that takes about 35 minutes from the pick up and drop off pier.
2.) Landscape = 5 Stars :) It looks as if The Rayavadee was laid into a jungle on one of the most unique beaches in the World. There are many different varieties of tree’s, plants, shrubs, flowers, and have not been planted. It seems as if everything was there already and they built around it. The rock formations are absolutely like nothing else on Earth.
3.) Layout & Architecture = 5 Stars :) Jungle Themed Huts on the outside & beautiful modern & jungle themed on the inside.
4.) Material Quality = 5 Stars :) It seemed as if the Owners spared no expense here. The Guest Facilities and Villa’s. throughout the property, in the materials they chose to create such a masterpiece, were of high quality and fashion.
5.) Interior Design & Decoration = 5 Stars :) Classy, Elegant Colors, Quality Fabrics, and done in a modern traditional jungle style in all Guest Facilities and Villa’s.
6.) Soap & Shampoo Quality = 5 Stars :) Good Choice, Good Smell, and seemed to be of good quality.
7.) In Room/Villa Toiletries = 5 Stars :) There are many things to use or take back home if you forgot any of these amenities.
8.) Electronics & WIFI = 5 Stars Our Private Hydro Pool Villa had a big screen TV downstairs and a regular size TV in the bedroom to watch while in lying in bed. The WIFI worked perfectly, considering where you are, out in the middle of nowhere.
9.) Check-In / Check-Out Process = 5 Stars :) Khun Rocky, our Private Butler, made this a Seamless & Easy Process.
10.) Check-In / Check Out Staff = 5 Stars :) Extremely Friendly, Nice, Always Smiling, & Professional.
11.) Our Private Hydro Pool Villa = 5 Stars :) My fellow readers, in our opinion, this is the only way to stay! Splurge and reward yourself with pure elegance, luxury, and style in the Private Hydro Pool Villas. Being able to have your own Hydro Pool in the evenings can be very romantic, since the Main Pool closes early. This Jungle Style Two Level Hut, is no ordinary villa. Your downstairs area has the living room, bathroom, and the hard wood stairs, that leads up to the magnificent sleeping quarters. A nice and comfortable King Size bed awaits you on the second floor, with good quality linens, a second TV and Sound System, and a office desk area, that looked out over the courtyard, pool, and outlying jungle. The best part of the villa was the private feeling of being by yourself and not being connected to another villa, having the privacy to being able to open up the villa blinds to the natural beauty of the jungle. There was a good selection of drinks and snacks offered in the villa and replenished daily during maid service. My personal favorites were the cookies :)
12.) Room Service = 5 Stars :) What could be better, than never leaving your room? Exactly, Room Service. With a great selection of delicious foods and always within 20 minutes, the Rayavadee Room Service is top notch. Of course, Chef Romain, might be the reason :)
13.) Resort Restaurants = 5 Stars :) Covering many cultures and tastes, the Restaurants at the Resort are amazing. Offering everything from Traditional Thai, Japanese, Chinese, and BBQ, the quality of the foods are fresh and daily prepared. The ocean views from all of the restaurants are romantic and unique in their own way. Especially from the “Cave”.A once in a lifetime experience and you won’t believe you are there. Amazing and should be a movie set! Maybe it was :)
14.) The Spa = 5 Star :) The Spa at the Rayavadee is World Class, offering the finest of Treatments, that will leave you feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and feeling like you have left your body and went to Heaven. Our honest opinion, it is a little over priced, compared to the street salons offering massages and mani-pedi’s. But, if you want to continue to live the lifestyle of YOLO (You Only Live Once), then the convenience of never leaving the property; which is impossible anyways, is well worth the money spent. The Best!!
15.) Concierge Service = 5 Star :) This was an easy top rating to give. The Concierge Staff at the Rayavadee are First Class, Knowledgable, Friendly, and willing to assist the Guest in helping make reservations for everything. However, our Private Butler, Khun Rocky, made the arrangement in coordination with them for most of our needs. They have a great selection of the best Tours & Excursions being offered in the area, and they can make private driver & taxi arrangements to and from the airport, or to a surrounding activity in the area. I/We highly recommend the Day trip to Phi Phi Island :)
16.) Buggy Service = 5 Stars :) Pick up your villa phone and call to be picked up to go anywhere on property. Excellent idea for when it is raining and your going to dinner or for when you don’t feel like walking around property. Could not be a better amenity offered.
17.) Lounging areas & Bars = 5 Stars :) Great place to relax, read, listen to music, or just take in the ocean and surrounding island views. Order up a Cocktail, Mocktail, or glass of juice and feel like royalty.
18.) Private Beaches = 5 Stars :)
19.) Cleaning Staff & Crew = 5 Stars :)
20.) Security = 5 Stars :)
21.) Price compared to Competitors Product = 5 Stars :) There is no comparison. The Rayavadee is a unique property and experience. A real once in a lifetime place and Heaven on Earth. There is only a couple other real and true 5 Star Hotels/Resorts in the Krabi area, and in my/our opinion, we would always choose the Rayavadee first, when coming back to Krabi, Thailand.
22.) Price Paid for the Value & Benefits Received = 5 Stars :) Hands down, YOLO (You Only Live Once) don’t stay any other way! The Private Hydro Pool Villa will not disappoint.

This concludes our review of the Rayavadee. Thank you for taking the time to read our lengthy and detailed information, that should have motivated you to Book a stay at this property, and feel confident, that you are making a well informed and correct decision. The Rayavadee is an amazing Product, a once in a lifetime experience, with beautiful and wonderful People, that carry out a classy, professional, friendly, considerate, and Higher Standard of Service. Remember each experience is different and things happen. It is highly unlikely to view anything negative about the Rayavadee, and in our opinion, and after such an extensive evaluation of the property, any negative review that is of negative content, would be out of the ordinary and a case of bad luck and Karma.

Thank you again, to everyone mentioned above and for those we failed to mention, that has played a part in making our memories at the Rayavadee, a memorable, and a once in a lifetime experience. We look forward to seeing you all again soon on our next trip back to Krabi, Thailand. You are all the best!!

Aloha & Mahalo’s,

We tried to have lunch in the hotel but I think we were not allowed as we were not guest of the hotel. If that is the case ok with the policy, the issue was the attitude and inoperance (and the poor/none english) of the staff. They tried to fool us signaling the wrong way to walk and lying about the restaurant.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a deluxe room.
The hotel has a perfect location with beautiful surroundings and very nice gardens. The two beaches were great (but busy with daytrips).
We liked the hotel for this but overall we were a bit disappointed. But maybe that was because our previous hotel was the Twinpalms at Phuket: a bit cheaper, modern and much better food for much better prices.
The room and bathroom in the Rayavadee were very nice and clean but in 'old style': dark. Also the 'infinity' pool looked old fashioned to us.
The food was ok but overpriced for it's quality. My daughter and I both got sick after eating lunch at the pool. Beside that there was no diet coke, they served beer from cans instead of bottles, French fries were oily, just not 5*. Breakfast was quite good but also old school and not for people who like healty food with seeds and nuts. Juices were not fresh:(
When we had lunch at the Grotto they served us a black panini which was already cold. After we got new ones, monkeys came and stole it.
I give the Rayavadee 4* for it's beautiful settings and well equipped room.

We just had our wedding at the Rayavadee and it was just PERFECT!! The detail that went into it was incredible - from the flowers to the decorations, the food and everything in between. Inthira our wedding planner and her team worked tirelessly from the moment we got there until the moment we left to make sure everything ran smoothly. We couldn't have asked for anything more. It was the most romantic setting and was made even more beautiful with the finishing touches the team added everywhere.
I would highly recommend this hotel - for a wedding, anniversary or just for an amazing holiday. You will NOT want to leave once you have stepped foot in this place.
Thank you again to Inthira, May and all of the team who put on the most spectacular wedding ever!
