We’ve just returned from a 3 day break to the hotel, and on the whole, it was very good: very comfortable bed, nice staff, good food, although the main restaurant was expensive : 2 courses each and a carafe of wine was £99! We upgraded our room to a Superior, and it was OK, but quite dark, and nothing special. I asked for a map of the area at Reception, but they don’t supply them.
Things which could be improved on:
* We paid £660 for a 3 night stay, but still had to pay £15 to use the pool, due to heating costs. I have never had to pay this in any hotel before.
* The walls and doors in all the corridors are dark brown, which gives the hotel an oppressive feel. A lighter colour would be much better.
* Not surprisingly there are lots of golfers at the hotel, and I felt they were given priority over other guests in the restaurant. We had to wait a long time on 3 occasions for our meal, because the golfers were being served. On one occasion we were the only couple in the main restaurant waiting for our breakfast, but they were being served in a private room.
We did enjoy our stay at Barnham Broom though, but perhaps next time we visit Norfolk, we will try a non golfing hotel.
