“Outstanding customer service - even after checkout!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 January 2012

We stayed at Damai for New Years Eve 2011.
Not only did we thoroughly enjoy the most incredible accommodation and NYE festivities (we will remember the sumptuous 7-course meal and local Balinese music & dancing forever!) but we experienced service from the staff that truly was world class.

We were cycling around Bali by ourselves, so the friendly staff Oka and Prima assisted us in booking onward transport for our luggage and giving advice on directions.

However due to bike mechanical problems and deteriorating weather conditions, we became stranded in a remote location high up the mountain above the hotel and knew that we couldn’t make it to the next destination.

We called the Damai and asked if they could assist with organising a taxi to pick us up (along with our bikes) – which Oka and Prima did – but then Oka also drove to meet us after he had finished work, while we waited for the taxi. He didn’t have to do this, but it made us feel quite safe. Oka assisted in translating, ensuring the driver knew about our predicament and exactly where we needed to go.

We made it to our next location in one piece thanks to the assistance of the staff (both on duty and off duty!).

This made our Damai experience not only wonderful, but perfect.

Standouts: welcome drink was delicious (even more so after arriving by bike) and we stayed in the Umah Master villa (sublime). NYE degustation menu is a MUST for foodies, but the standard brekky was delicious (freshly baked breads with international cheeses.....).

We'll return again.

Room Tip: Umah Maga Villa - with private pool, huge outdoor bale-lounge, vaulted ceilings, comfortable king si...

superb hotel in superb location perched on a hill overlooking north bali and the sea. cooler than being at sea level. really a boutique hotel with small number of bungalows.Very peaceful and in first class condition.INSIDER TIP: you will need transport to go anywhere as the hotel is isolated and by itself.

Stayed for 3 nights with my wife and daughter. Absolutely 100% loved the place! Totally friendly, relaxed and personal service from all of the staff, great food, although we could have wished for a little more variety for breakfast. All cottages situated in tranquil surroundings down the slope from a hilltop, surrounded by palms and lush vegetation, interior tastefully decorated in contemporary style. The outdoor bathroom courtyard is a real plus.
Would go back any time!

Room Tip: 14 cottages with queen size 4-poster canopy bed, additional bed for child possible. #1 is close to t...

We began our holiday with a winding 5 hour trip up the north from Denpasar airport, passing the heavy traffic of the main city, padi fields, mountains and lakes. Finally we saw the sign "Damai" at the start of a narrow road and 5 minutes later we were at the front porch of the hotel unloading our luggage.

Checking in was a breeze and done while we were sipping on our welcome cocktail. As the pool villas were situated further from the deluxe villas, we were taken to our room in a buggy. Our villa was amazing, comprising of an outdoor rain shower, indoor bath tub, LCD TV, a gigantic bed and an outdoor infinity pool. They have most essential shower kit, but no toothbrush and toothpaste. A wide selection of DVDs is also available upon request FOC.

Dinner at the restaurant was a pleasant experience. One can choose from al fresco candlelight dining by the pool or in the restaurant. As with earlier reviews, the food was really good. Breads of different flavors were freshly baked. The staff were attentive and friendly.

I strongly recommend Damai as one of the hotels to stay in Bali, based on their excellent service, good food, outstanding villas and the private infinity pool.

My family and I are on the last of our three night stay at this beautiful place and we will be very sad to leave. I didn't want to stay here after reading some of the negative reviews, but luckily, my husband prevailed and we have truly enjoyed the tranquility and restorative nature here. It's absolutely gorgeous, immaculate, tasteful. The flowers draping over the bridge is one of my favorite features.

We are in one of the villas in the back with our own pool which is perfect for a family with children because we aren't as worried about disturbing the other guests. The breakfasts are bountiful, mostly if not all organic, delicious and a great way to start the day. We've enjoyed dinner both nights here as well. The children's menu gives lots of choices and are healthy, not the typical chicken nuggets or hamburger patty most restaurants offer. My husband and I have both enjoyed our meals as well and the service is excellent! In fact, the entire staff from the front desk, to the spa, restaurant, etc. has been so pleasant and welcoming, even with our three kids in tow. I couldn't be more appreciative.

I had two massages at the spa and enjoyed them both. My husband and the kids did the dolphin excursion this morning and they loved it. Everything has met or exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: If you are a family, definitely stretch to get a villa. They are amazing and you'll enjoy the pr...

It is now the 5th time I stayed at Damai, and for a reason, you dont find a better place in Bali to relax. The gourmet food is second to none, but what stands out is the bread... best in Asia.
