What a terrific gallery on the road between Christchurch and Akaroa. The quality of the art and crafts is extremely high, ranging from jewellery, textiles and paintings to stunning sculptures. Fancy a 2m high replica anglepoise lamp anyone? If you are not in the market for artwork just relax in the courtyard garden with homemade scones, cakes and muffins. A nice break on the way back from the Banks Peninsula.

This is a wonderful gallery where you can look at and buy art, sculpture, jewellery, decorations, cards etc. There is something for everyone and some really delightful pieces just to look at. If I lived in NZ this would be a regular haunt for me!

One place I always stop enroute to Akaroa is this lovely gallery. It has something for everybody, from the serious art collector (fancy taking home a large stainless steel sculpture for your garden?) to the buyer of knickknacks for Aunty Mabel.

Whimsical art interspersed with more serious art work describes what you'll find here. Lovely jewelry depicting native animals, birds and plants are on display, along with well done art objects that will having you chuckling at the humor displayed. One piece I particularly enjoyed was in the outdoor display area behind the gallery and featured a life sized grinning polar bear pushing a grocery cart containing bags of ice cubes. Frogs and other sculptures of a variety of recycled materials were a delight to behold. The gallery is a fun place to visit, even if you don't have any specific purchases in mind. Who knows...you might go home with a quirky metal duck! Handicap accessible.
