I always love going to Balmakewan for a meal. The food and the service is always very good and there is a good choice of meals. As well as the restaurant they also have good deli items to take home. Well worth a visit.

Had a lovely family lunch at Balmakewan today. I hade the Fisherman’s Net selection of seafood which was finely balanced and tasted excellent. Only issue was serving it on a slate I can never understand the enthusiasm for serving excellent food on weird surfaces when a simple plate works perfectly. Still the quality of the food and friendly service was well worth the visit.

Just off the A90 this is a hidden gem! The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is excellent. A wonderful range to suit all tastes.

We stopped in for a snack and it was delicious, with good portion size, tasty food and sensible pricing, plus very good service from pleasant staff. The shop, though, carried very similar ranges to lots of other outlets. Now, if that sells well, that's good business. Still, it's no incentive for repeat business if these items can be bought in a few other places not too far away.

My friend had lunch here last week, I had never been, my sister and I have a soup and sandwich in nearly every establishment in Angus and surrounding area, this was VERY disappointing and expensive for what it was. The bread was easily 3/4 of an inch thick the chicken was hard not much beef in the other sandwich. Warm slaw, soup was thin considering it was pea. Not a soup and sandwich deal bread with the soup way to much bread all together. The Joinery in Meigle has a soup and sandwich, delicious deal £6.20 every morsel is devoured with relish.
