We stayed here for one night in July 2017.

The smugglers is located in Newlyn which is just outside of the main town of Penzance next to a fishing port.

As this review is for the Restaurant I will stick with talking about the food- We booked to eat last minute as we arrived late but the hosts could not have been more accommodating!

The restaurant area is small but pleasant- it has a nice personal atmosphere, crisp white table cloths and shiny cutlery. The menu is all local sourced ingredients and mainly specialises in fresh fish- whatever is available at the harbour that day! Service is impeccable- we did not have to wait for anything, as soon as we were seated menus were presented, with as much helpful advice as we could want.

I had the Duck Parfait to start which was served with delicious warm fresh bread and chutney.
For mains I had Sea Bass served with Samphire, Mussells and crushed New Potates and my partner had Megrim Sole. Both dishes were so generous it was a struggle to finish them!- But we did because they were absolutely divine- the fish was so fresh and cooked so perfectly that every mouthful was a clean delight. The sauces and accompaniments were chosen to perfectly enhance the main feature of the fish and were also cooked to perfection!
There was a delicious array of Desserts on offer as well, including Home Made Ice Creams.
There were a selection of wines, beers and spirits on offer as well to accompany your meal.

As we stayed over night we were also lucky enough to get to experience the breakfast at Smugglers which definitely did not disappoint! The full English was full of good locally sourced goodies again, Served as you like and the most delicious Scrambled eggs I have ever had! Seafood features on the breakfast menu as well- My partner had the Smoked Seafood Omelette which he didn't stop raving about all day!
Fresh cafetiere coffee and a good selection of continental items as well.

All in all we could not fault our visit and cant wait to go back there again!

We have eaten here for many years whenever we visit Cornwall. Although absence makes the heart grow fonder we are convinced the food gets better and better. Last night we had starters to die for one main course of sea bass and mussels. I had the blackened cod. Both were superb balanced dishes and a wonderful bottle of Sauvignon Blanc to wash it down. Can't wait till our next visit.

I went here for a meal last Friday on a beautiful sunny evening. The table I was given was lovely as it had wonderful views over the harbour. Delicious fish soup followed by an enormous portion of blackened cod with Parma ham, fried potatoes and pea guacamole. Couldn't really fit in pudding but did anyway and had a yummy homemade Clotted cream ice-cream with strawberries and crumble topping with a vanilla syrup.
Extremely good value, straightforward cooking and lovely service.

Thank Catherine S
