We've wanted to go to Rancho Pescadero for years and so glad we finally did. I can't wait to go back. The entire staff made us feel right at home. It's luxurious yet so relaxed and comfortable. I've been to plenty of resorts in Mexico and after coming here I'll never do an all-inclusive or large resort again.

Room Tip: I don't think you can go wrong with any of the rooms.

The place is getting better every day, new arrival experience soon, is just a beautiful place and keeps its uniqueness, they have a second pool area very private if you want to relax, Great bar area. They have a beautiful terrace on top of the lobby area with Great views. Incredible that they have a horse parking area in case you want to ride to the hotel .

First, easier drive to Rancho Pescadero from the airport than Cabo...less traffic...no stops...however, you do get a completely Mexico experience of dodging the occasional Steer on the Highway. I guess that's how I really knew I had crossed the border.

The website is perfectly aligned with the property...whimsical, funny, laid back, no worries. The property is as described. heaven on earth. And, yes, I didn't want to leave. The problem with doing nothing for 4 days is knowing when your done. That, thankfully is remedied when they slide a note under your door stating "we miss you already!" Time to pack and skeedaddle.

First...the front office staff is fabulous. On point. I've travelled the World and had great service in many cultures and languages...west coast Mexico is far and away the most pleasant and accommodating. Never in your face nor formal...but alwasy there when you need them. They will simply do whatever it takes to make your time as relaxing as possible. RP is no exception. Great housekeeping and the restaurant and bartenders were muy bueno. I was there during "hurricane season" and the weather was spectacular with a hint of humidity...which for me meant close proximity to the water at all times.

The rooms were exceptionally laid out. The Milagro suite was large...great bathroom and tub and massive deck facing the beach and ocean. King size bed and a mesquito net that was like armour...always a plus for a naked Irish/German sleeper who bugs enjoy a little too much. Only complaint was the whirlpool tub was inoperable and the lighting in the bathroom tough when there is no natural light to assist.

The proximity to the ocean was a five minute walk across soft sand to a great shore break and a 10 minute walk to a pretty decent surf area. The sound of pounding surf is hypnotic and relaxing in ways that are hard to describe. The property has cabanas for relaxing and adirondak chairs for watching the sunsets...which are spectacular. The beach is pretty much unoccupied except for locals. The pool is perfect for this size property and is ringed with in pool and on deck loungers...and most critically...no more than 10 meters from the bar.

Breakfast and/or lunch were great at the pool and there was fresh fruit/sweet roll and coffee brought to the door promptly at 7am. The maid arrived too early the first morning at 10am...gotta love vacation...learned...and we never saw her again the rest of the trip...yet the room was clean all the time. Turndown cookies were always consumed.

The restaurant served the freshest fish and the largest portions I have ever experienced...anywhere. One of the benefits of being in a fishing village. Never the same cut or fish twice. perfectly prepared. Unbelievable flavor. Good wine list. exceptional cocktails. cheap beer. what more could I ask for? Oh...and a piece of freshly caught fish the size of your head for less than $20.

You have to make your own night life here...so, make sure you come with someone you truly adore.

So, will I be back? Heck yeah.

We had plans to visit for two nights after staying at the Cape for 5 nights. We spent 2 hours driving from Cabo to Rancho Pescadero. It was a scary driving experience down dirty roads where the road was lines with heavily armed guards. It was a very unsettling experience. When we showed up to the hotel, we were told they were closed. The male and female staff were rude, and told us we could have a room but that the staff was leaving at 8pm. They and refused to give us our money back, and It was the most uncomfortable experience we have ever had in all of our travels. If this hotel is on your list. Run for your life. It is worth to note, that the manager let us know that should we post a bad review, "he could care less because he has 400 good reviews already".

Lisa H, Owner at Rancho Pescadero, responded to this reviewResponded September 18, 2016

The extreme weather conditions of Hurricane Newton made it very stressful for everyone in the area. It's typical for the Mexican government to ensure public safety during natural disasters with guards warning people to stay off the roads, as you experienced on your drive from the Cape during this time.

When our phone system was restored and the concierge from your hotel called, we indicated the storm was still very active in Pescadero and recommended people stay off the roads, but if necessary would accommodate guests the best we could, given the conditions.

As explained when you arrived, the storm had ended just 4 hours prior. The staff had been working cleanup detail all day and many would be leaving at 8pm, but we would be providing all guests with room service as our restaurants would remain closed for another day.

We’re very sorry if you experienced further stress in coming to Rancho Pescadero, that’s not our objective nor style. That said, unfortunately we couldn’t accommodate your requested ‘cash refund on the spot’ as hotel policy requires deposits be refunded in the manner in which they were paid. Your refund was processed the following day.

We just returned from a week at Rancho Pescadero and had an absolutely amazing time. It would be impossible to list all the wonderful parts about staying there but here are a few. The space is absolutely beatiful. Everything is very well maintained and the rooms are gorgeous but there is not a hint of pretension anywhere to be found-- a rare combination. The staff is so warm and friendly and always happy to help with any questions. We had lots of questions about the area and they were always happy to point us in the right direction. You truly feel like you are in a different world at Rancho, filled with delicious (locally sourced) food and drink, kind and warm staff, and beautiful spaces. Highly recommend for people looking to get away, off the beaten path, and really relax.

Room Tip: All rooms have outdoor space. For best ocean view ask for second floor and away from the pool.
