We had a lovely holiday staying at Il Montano.
There are so many positive things that we want to say about the owner - Marco and the house.
Firstly, having booked via Holiday Bookings, Marco contacted us and continued to keep us informed and up to date with the house. Prior to is traveling, he contacted us and explained the arrival process, where a local point of contact would provide us assistance on our arrival - which while we didn't think we would have needed it, we did! As she showed us around the house and opened the internal doors of the house which is truly expansive!
The house it self is well laid out with plenty of space for the family to be as near or far away from one another as everyone wanted. Air conditioning in the bedrooms was a delight.
There is numerous options for eating in the house - or on the view filled balcony.
Having a private pool which was very private, was lovely too, very cool on the very hot days.
We didn't use any of the tech toys that were available in the house (Sky TV, X-Box), but the pool table and darts, along with the all essential WiFi was heavily used.
One side note - if you are expecting a modern, cosmopolitan, pristine house - Il Montano is not for you. If however, you are looking for a large, medieval, querky, lovely house in a quiet historical location - this IS the place for you.
Sermoneta itself is a lovely quiet town, there are few local shops that were open every day along with bars and restaurants - we used the bakery daily for our breakfast breads! There are few locals that spoke English - but every body was accommodating and friendly while we pointed, smiled and thanked them!
It is a medieval town, the streets are narrow, cobbled and many routes have steps, we always managed to park our car near the house - but it was a squeeze some times.
We loved staying at the house and Sermoneta, we would highly recommend it.
