Thanks to Waze, We found La Trota easily on our way north from Rome. Bring a map, though - Waze and other GPS apps could not find us or our destination, Labro, when we got a very short distance from the restaurant when we left and it was tricky to find our way to nearby Labro, where we spent the night. The food is beautiful, inventive, and fun. The service is amazing. Local fish, vegetables, herbs, some we didn't know, made this a lesson in gastronomy. It is on the expensive side and a "special occasion" place, great for foodies. The final joy was the dessert "test", a plate of teeny desserts made of vegetables that we had to guess. Also surprising was the black olive ice cream that we couldn't resist trying and which was really good. We appreciated help with the Italian wines, sparkling and not, and were grateful when our waiter swapped one we didn't like. We highly recommend this restaurant - quiet, calm, relaxing, and delicious!

If you’re talking about a very, very pretty place to be: you’ve found it. To reach La Trota is probably not a walk in the park, but this is hospitality in the highest degree. Explosions of colors and flavors coming out of the kitchen, presented in just a perfect way by a friendly staff with a notorious degree of humor. If you can serve carp – normally a muddy and not very tasty fish - like the brothers Serva do, you deserve a statue. The two Michelin stars for the brothers – in every inch Italian gentleman - are more than earned. Hurry up: Google Maps will take you to Rivodutri and it will be worth every kilometer and every cent.

Where to begin? La Trota is almost in the middle of nowhere, but the travel really is worth it. You really get Italian top gastronomy. We were here before and this year we came twice. The first time we had the menu with mainly fish (and of course there was some trout). It is too difficult and too long to explain everything we had, but it was just heavenly delicious, just exquisite. The mix of tastes, the use of typical vegetables, the use of fresh ingredients (quite some of own production, others from local producers), it is just marvellous. You just forget you are still on earth. The second time we went for the mainly meat menu, which was as wonderful (have a look at the photos).
I did not have a look at the extensive wine list, but I just asked for advice. No disappointment at all, we had some very interesting wines.
Owners and staff were very nice and really made us feel at home. They take the time to explain you what is served, and if you do not understand everything (they do explain in Italian!!), they will try and explain as good as they can (some English or French words). But some basic knowledge of culinary Italian is a big help.
Don’t let this keep you from going there, even if you don’t understand, it’s delicious.

La Trota is an elegant 2 star Michelin awarded restaurant. It is located in a calm and relaxing corner of the Italian region of Lazio, in Rivodutri, a village not far from the city of Rieti.
I believe this restaurant is a must for people who are looking for an extraordinary culinary experience.
Firstly, the food served is carefully prepared and brilliantly cooked. As a matter of fact, this restaurant is run by some of the best chefs in the country.
There is also a wide variety of choices. The dishes include masterfully prepared meals, with freshwater fish such as the delicious carp or the excellent trout and the appetizing pike.
Furthermore, the waiters are extremely kind and helpful.
Although it is rather expensive, I think it is definitely worth a try: il will be a 'five senses' experience because not only you will taste some exquisite food but you will also happen to find some delicate flowers on your plate; you will be able to enjoy the evocative atmosphere of the restaurant and experience the discreet willingness of the waiters as well as the invaluable expertise of the chefs.
Be ready for a truly unforgettable lunch and/or dinner.

Warm welcome and good service is the most pleasant surprise in this out-of-nowhere family run restaurant.

My wife and i were driving from Cascia to Rome in December. Very few restaurants were opened on the way back. We were extremely hungry and after checking TripAdvisor, this restaurant seemed to have got a good rating and was the closest.

It was a surreal experience. Out of a small village at more than an hour drive from Rome, stands La Trota.

We were received with warmth yet the "whitish" decoration of the restaurant is cold and tasteless.

Service, wine list and menu are in line with the restaurant (failed) attempt to present himself as a 5⭐ / Michelin type of restaurant. Yet prices were not Shocking

As for the food, although creative, is not very good (noting that the used ingredients seemed fresh). Overall, the whole experience felt weird.
