We dined here recently. It'd been over a year since we last visited and the whole experience was better from every point of view.

Valerie was warm and welcoming as always. The restaurant was quite busy compared to our last visit which was nice. Bottled craft beer was available in the bar which lovely to sit in whilst perusing the menu.

I found it hard to choose what to eat from the menu as there were so many nice options.I settled for the mozzarella salad, the fillet of beef and the lemon tart, all of which were delicious. I was delighted to see the reintroduction of the canapés prior to the starter. The small soup, beef croquettes and breads were delicious.

The only negative was the price of the espresso which was in fact a 'nespresso' capsule. It was priced at £3.00. Extortionately priced given I could have had one at home at the cost of 32p.

Apart from that we had a lovely time.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review and for your kind words too. It's heart-warming that you found your experience better than you remembered from previous visits - other than Valerie, who simply couldn't be any more wonderful than she already is!

My husband & I recently celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary and had dinner at Ardtara Country House. It's a beautiful old country house set amongst trees with a beautiful garden. We received a very warm welcome by Dave who was our waiter for the evening and who attended to our every need. The food was delicious with every course very well presented & as a wee added bonus to celebrate our anniversary the chef made us an additional course of a beautiful crab risotto. Dave explained each course & how the ingredients were all sourced as locally as possible. Excellent food & service. Would highly recommend Ardtara Country House

Came with family and friends for Sunday lunch...partly to introduce them to Ardtara's charms and to check it out again as we have booked our wedding here next year. The food was stunning, every dish excelled....the venue is as fabulous as we remember and our guests were blown away.....we are all looking forward to next April.....and think we may need a few more visits before then, for planning purposes only of course

The three course dinner came with an amazing amuse bouche trio (delightful both nights). The dinner itself was first class (chicken the first night followed by beef the second night) and the desserts were classic!

We stayed at the Ardtara last week for one night. What can I say! highly recommend it to anyone. Staff brilliant and would get anything you asked for. Rooms beautiful and if it is peace and tranquility you want, this is the right place. Food outstanding, will definitely return.
