Our favorite place of the entire trip - great place. Enjoyed the independence and character of this stop-over, the home cooking, traditional lounge, and overal warmth of place...... would not hesitate to go back.

This is in the middle of nowhere. Eleanor is often handling hotel check-ins at the same time as bartending, while also watching over the restaurant and occasionally pumping gas. Yet she manages to be friendly at the same time. This "oasis in the wilderness" has hotel, campground, restaurant, bar and has gas and diesel. Trip Advisor doesn't like me to mention that I stayed here twice this mont, 2 weeks apart, so I won't even mention that! ;-) Good, basic rooms, good food and a well-stocked bar.

Eagle Plains Hotel is Eagle Plains! The facility serves as a truckers' stop, but they also have a garage, helicopter, fuel and many other things to act as an oasis for highway travellers where there is nothing for hundreds of miles. The place is old, but has a certain charm. Beds were very comfortable and the room was clean - the first room they gave us was very hot - the thermostat was jammed at 30 degrees, but they quickly came up with an alternative. Internet and TV are an extra charge, and there is a rustic bar with a pool table (pay). The restaurant was quite adequate, and although we didn't eat there, a trucker told us whatever you get will be good. People can bring their dogs in and they can roam around freely - as a dog lover, that was great! A good place to see the Northern Lights in winter - look to the southeast after midnight - no guarantees though.

Eagle Plains has a great view. The room are old but clean. There are no microwaves in room and wi-fi cost $5. 00. It is a bit pricy for what ones get. Service and cordiality could be improved, especially during winter: access to car plugs was limited and not shoveled. .
