Really nice place, quiet site. Well fenced garden a hit with the kids and use of saftey glass didn't impeded the view.

“Beautiful location, fantastic lodge, well equipped”

Just spent Xmas in the lodge - beautifully decorated with xmas decorations and lights, inside and out. Very clean and well equipped lodge, has everything you need. Lovely touch left by the owners - xmas card and pressies! Amazing outside area, would really appreciate it in the summer. The only negative was that the sofa bed was uncomfortable but other than that it was flawless. The owners were very helpful with any query we had.

“Fabulous Lodge in an amazing location, but keep it a secret”

Well, where to start. My Partner and I stayed at Goldfinch Lodge for a week in late November. The weather was mixed from sunshine, showers to freezing fog. It made no difference, we had a fabulous holiday and did not want to leave the lodge. It is very homely, clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything you need for a perfect holiday including a lovely enclosed garden with views across the lake. Only essentials to take are towels and loo role. Each day and evening (Mon-Friday) we were treated to an air display of fast jets from RAF Coningsby which is situated across the lake behind the trees, although we did visit the viewing area along the road from the Battle of Britain Memorial Museum for a closer look as well. The large lake in front of the lodge is for water skiing, however it was quiet during our visit and the lake attracts a range of wetland birds including lots of tufted ducks and cormorants, several types of geese, swans and many gulls, especially of an evening, so is good for bird as well as airplane enthusiasts, just remember to pack your binoculars. There is lots to do in the area as well although I would have been happy enough just staying in the lodge. We did not try any of the park facilities and the shop appeared to be closed. We hope to get back to the lodge for a stay when the nights are lighter and the days warmer so we can benefit from sitting in the lovely garden. We had a lovely peaceful (jets VERY noisy, but loved it and it's not constant) relaxing break in a fabulous lodge in an amazing location. Thank you to the owners for sharing such a gem, we hope to be back next year.

Delightful place to stay, our own air show every day from across the lake. Lancasters, Spitfires, Typhoons. Enclosed garden for small dog, lovely relaxing holiday for our 30th Wedding anniversary. So relaxing, so much to see in this area, we will have to book another stay! Only downside was the 20 quid extra for us to drink or have a meal in the club house. Plenty of pubs within the vicinity serving good meals. Tip sit out on the patio and watch the night flights with a bottle of vino from the local supermarket amid the solar lights. Magical......

Booked as a first ever Christmas get-away with family and could not not have picked a better venue.

The owners had not only decorated the place for Christmas, they'd also left wine and small Christmas gifts.

Wonderful setting, log fire ablaze, all mod cons, what more could you ask!

Feeding the birds and sitting on the decking with drink in hand on Christmas Day was fabulous.

The pub and restaurant just off the site is great, good food, nice beer, great service and quite reasonably priced.

Only slight criticism was with the seating, cabin caters for 7 people but unless a couple of people are prepared to sit on the dining chairs, comfortable chairs only reaaly seat 5 people!
