Working in Southall we gave Saravana Bhavan a go. A very busy south Indian restaurant frequented by couples, families, and parties. We were seated in what can be described as a fantastic atmospheric place. Although busy, there is plenty of room to chat without feeling other diners are sitting on top of you.
Ordered Idli, North Indian Thali, chili paneer and a mango lassi to wash it all down.
The soup (part of the thali) arrived literally within 50 seconds. The idli, paneer and thali hot on its heels.
Paneer was nice as were the idli, however, the poppadum was a bit soft, the thali curries tasted more or less the same and the accompanying breads tasted like they had been hanging around for a while.
It was not bad, but not brilliant. The place, however, is brilliant.
Staff is efficient and friendly. I would go here again but I have since visited some better restaurants in the area.
