Taking the family away for Christmas is always going be a bit of a gamble! After being recommended to the hotel I am pleased to report a jackpot win!
Our party of four stayed four nights in the hotel in a Crown family room (1) and an Agister double on the ground floor (26). Both rooms ideal for our requirements. Room 1 having a separate attic sleeping area for the younger members of the family. Both rooms were attentively serviced by the cheerful housekeeping staff. All staff were attentive, without being overbearing and nothing was too much trouble when requested. Chef and his team are congratulated on some fabulous food served promptly and piping hot, where applicable. The well thought out menus for the festive period were delicious, using locally sourced produce where possible. A surprise arrival on Christmas Eve meant our party doubled in size, with additional family members joining us for the rest of our stay.Big thanks to Charlotte on reception for keeping this "Mum" !
The Hotel is as it is, that of a country house with additions -indoor pool, additional bedrooms and reception rooms. There are some creaky floors, but this adds to the charm and homeliness of the hotel.
The location is wonderfully isolated, yet close enough to Burley village to stretch your legs and take in the folklore of the area. The New Forest is literally on the doorstep!

Tom and all his team are to be congratulated on the hard work that it takes to deliver such warm and professional service to their guests.Thank you for making our first Christmas without lost family members so special.

We spent Christmas here and it was fabulous. The food was excellent the room spotless. It's a fabulous hideaway which is walking distance to both the forest and the village of Burley with incredible little shops and great pubs which serve excellent food.
What really makes your stay special are the staff. They want you to enjoy your stay and can't do enough to ensure you do. The atmosphere is so informal.
Are we going back? As soon as we can.

Thank you for such a wonderful review. The Moorhill house hotel lends itself to relaxation and unwinding, with it's cosy lounges and roaring fires. Add this to the staff for whom nothing will ever be too much trouble as they go about making the guest journey highly memorable. It's great to hear you will be back soon. We took a Christmas break here. Good food, altho' I thought wine list a bit limited for a such a celebration. Lovely location for New Forest walks, bit tucked away, which I liked. What could do with improvement is the noise insulation between rooms, every time the person in the room above us made a move there was a loud noise, and just after midnight on he phoned his friend in Australia and I heard every word of his end of the conversation

Room tip: Top floor overlooking the garden: quieter

We had a lovely 3 day stay at this hotel. It was my husbands 70th birthday and the staff did everything to make it a special weekend. The hotel gave him a birthday card, chocolates and then at dinner we were given a glass of champagne each, which was a nice touch by the hotel. The floorboards were a bit creaky but it is an old building, they did not cause us a problem. The food was excellent and our room was clean and comfortable. We would certainly go back again and also recommend the hotel to anyone visiting the New Forest.

We stayed here for 2 nights, the room it's self was lovely and clean however, very very creaky floorboards, our room was located next to a cleaning cupboard and was woken up at 7:30 each morning by them banging in the cupboard and getting their cleaning bits ready. Another thing was there was a big gap under the door we're sound and light could get through, so I couldn't sleep very well due to the floor boards, you could hear people all round the floor of the hotel.

Dear 77Becki77

I am pleased that overall your visit to us was a good experience. I have already addressed the housekeeping department that you describe and the example you describe of banging around early in the day. This point is unacceptable and this is an isolated case that will not be repeated moving forward.

Unfortunately with an old building, the structure can cause examples of creaky floorboards. This is something that is part of the hotels overall character and widely acclaimed charm. I apologise that this caused disturbance for yourself. However many of our guests comment on the comfort and peaceful relaxation that the hotel brings.

I hope to welcome you back in the future. If you are concerned about disturbances from a previous experience please get in touch with the hotel directly and the helpful booking team will be able to advise on which bedrooms available will best suit your requirements.

Kindest regards
