Great place for a short break

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 1, 2024
Had a enjoyable stay , we have stayed here before in a larger room with a great view which made us come back but this time round we had a smaller room with no view ,but i must say it was very well presented and clean, with a modern bathroom with a walk in shower our bed was a king size and had the usual things you find in a good hotel , the only downside was the tv was very small and in the wrong place on the wall , not a major problem to us , would suggest moving in line with the bed. The hotel has a great restaurant and bar with outside sitting in the golf bar next to the hotel the staff was very helpful and friendly, the hotel is in walking distance to the beach , a great place to stay for a short break
Date of stay: August 2024
Room Tip: Ask for the larger room with a view

Have been visiting west runton and the area for years, never stayed here before.

We (two adults, teenager and dog) stayed in a family garden room. These are good for small families with dogs. Room had a double and two singles plus a small sofa. Decent, clean en suite (shower, not bath). Towels are as others have mentioned a bit small. Could be upgraded easily.

Garden rooms are set round a garden courtyard with some tables and chairs. Ideal for those with dogs to sit and chill. Also for those midnight toilet runs!

Staff are very welcoming. Breakfast was decent for a buffet.

The price was good for what else we could see locally. However still not cheap and eat dog costs extra £15 per night.

We have other places we usually stay but would come back here if we again faced availability challenges

Very disappointing restaurant.
Despite being adjacent to Cromer they were unable to offer Cromer crab or even a steak stating that they’d ’been busy’ 🤷🏻‍♂️. No one told them bank it was holiday clearly. Only hour s earlier if bought crab and steak locally.
As an alternative to steak I chose duck echo was presented barely lukewarm and rejected without an alternative required.
Having spent a decent amount of money (£180 for two) on drinks and food that was available it did leave a poor taste. Staff were inexperienced in the standard that was purported.
Certainly wouldn’t go again and wouldn’t recommend it.

Room tip: Don’t expect much from the restaurant.

The Links Hotel at West Runton near Cromer is a super friendly hotel and this is
the second time we have stayed here, using our Buyagift vouchers.
Breakfasts are excellent with a good choice of both hot and cold items.
We ate in the evenings at the Golf Club bar, which is just 10 metres away from the front of the hotel and has views of the course. Our first meal was excellent, whilst the second evening food was not so good. We would probably eat in the main hotel restaurant on other occasions. We ate an afternoon tea in the hotel lounge and both agreed - the best ever.
Our room had everything you could need and was comfy and spacious, with tea and coffee tray, satellite tv and a handy fan. The bathroom had a large walk-in shower.
We used the nearby bus stop in West Runton to travel to Norwich and there is a rail station, just a couple of hundred metres away, plus a shop, post office and pub in the village.
Overall a really relaxing break, in a calm and well run hotel. We cannot wait to go back again.
Afternoon Tea at the Links Hotel in West Runton near cromer in North Norfolk - is a winner.
We had superb fresh sandwiches, freshly made warm scones, cream and jam and “melt in the mouth” cakes and pastries. I took a photo, but just afterwards we were served with a giant pot of tea and some special treats on a slate platter. I put my camera phone down and tucked in with my wife. Our joint smiles and full tummies summed up a truly delightful, afternoon tea.

Room tip: Rail station: 200 metres. Pub: 400 metres. Post office/shop: 400 metres Bus stop: 400 metres. Golf: 0 metres

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. A period Edwardian hotel with a feel-good factor. Quality bedlinen. Indoor pool a major plus. Peace and quiet and wonderful walks all around, not least to the Hillside animal sanctuary. Short walk to the Norfolk Coastal Path.

Room tip: If someone does not have a driving licence, the hotel is easily accessible by the branch rail line. Frequent buses ply along the coast
