Another excellent stay for my husband’s Birthday.. the staff were attentive, friendly and worked incredibly hard. We had a sea view suite, Horizon, which was amazing. It was spotlessly clean, lots of little touches in the room. The food was exceptional, great choice every day, well presented and the chef would change your potato choice, if necessary. The patio area, relatively new, was gorgeous, you had a sea view and could walk to the end of the hotel garden to see the sea.

In the past year, we have eaten at Sea Marge on three occasions. We have been disappointed on each occasion. The first time the Sunday Roast had a choice of three meats. We were given two very thin slices. While there was a good range of vegetables, they were luke warm. There is no effective means of keeping the food hot. Spills were not wiped up. The whole meal and presentation was poor. Not good value for money. On the plus side the serving staff were pleasant, and worked hard.
On the second occasion we ate in the bar. Four of the party of six are vegetarian. The vegetarian roast option had to be defrosted so it was a long wait. The server at the buffet stand tried to serve the vegetarian option with the same knife he had cut the meat with. There was no vegetarian gravy. Again the vegetables were luke warm, and the serving table was covered with spilled food slops. The cheesecake was defrosted in a microwave and resembled a warm mousse.
We like the location, the charming building, and have been regular visitors for over a period of twenty years. The staff are pleasant, and work hard. It is obvious that many of them have received little or no training in hospitality, and serving skills. Six of us ate in the bar recently around five to six o'clock. The welcome was warm and the staff were attentive.
We all had the roast option since it was Sunday. Meat was delicious. Vegetarian options were limited and adequate. All the vegetables had been held over since lunch and reheated. The broccoli and cauliflower should not have been served, and cooked from fresh. We paid the same price for leftovers as we would have done for fresh food. And the plates were scrapped at the table.

My feedback is for the owners of the hotel. Are they giving the right message to their managers and their staff in what good hospitality is for their customers at Sea Marge.
