We had a lovely evening at the Lodge with drinks and a meal. We had drinks in the bar area prior to our meal, the atmosphere was comfortable and friendly. We were shown to a lovely table in the restaurant and the food and service were excellent. Will definitely revisit when back in the area.

Just went for quick pint as staying nearby and first impressions were that it was a more a place to stay and eat. Bit soulless and not helped by midges which made me think I had ‘crawling skin’ syndrome!! Young staff server was pleasant so can’t complain….average experience but wouldn’t go back for a pint if I had an alternative 🤔

I am sorry to read that your visit did not live up to expectations. I was surprised to read about the soulless atmosphere, we have music etc playing but it would really depend on the time of year and how busy we are which of course alters the atmosphere of a place.
I have spoken to the staff about midges and we haven't had any issues recently. Obviously when there is a change in weather this occasionally happens.....in all places.
I am sorry that because of this one experience you wouldn't return.

What a great place to stay, all staff were very friendly, welcoming & accommodating including our dog, nothing was to much trouble. Great meals in the bar and lovely breakfast selection. Our party had 2 small issues resolved quickly by the staff we can’t wait to come back again.

If I could leave 0 stars I would . The worst place I have ever eaten. The manager was the rudest person I have ever come across in customer service. She didn’t have any customer service. She made the entire experience awful. The food was the worst food I have ever eaten. If the bar and restaurant was that awful I wouldn’t like to think how awful the hotel would be . I would never visit again

It was my assistant manager that you dealt with on the night in question and she called me after you had left as she was upset by the whole incident, including having fingers pointed in her face at the till whilst she tried to talk to you.
As you can see by our numerous other reviews, our hotel, restaurant and bar is well liked and our staff work tirelessly to ensure high standards are met. I can only apologise that you did not feel this was the case. It was an incredibly busy day and she was right in explaining that all other tables were booked, so she was unable to move you from the table you disliked so much.
I wish you all the best but would agree that The Lodge is not the place for you to visit again.
Had a great overnight stay at this lovely hotel. Although the room was described as small [very honest of them ] it was quite spacious, very clean,lovely bathroom and a great breakfast. The staff could not have been more welcoming. I would certainly stay there again.
