Writing this now is rather amiss, i should have written this when we stayed in September, here we are again, just days before Christmas 2017.
Our stay in September was lovely, so nice in fact, we extended our stay from 1 week to 2 1/2 weeks in total, Sheila and Trevor, were most helpful in hints about the area, we stayed, as we were Dog sitting, ( Am sure the Dog walkers, will already, but non Dog walkers, bring a little flash light with you), if you go to the village pub , there is no street lights, all the better for seening the stars, lots of walks around from here or a short car trip, a walk up to the church in Burythorpe will bring some views without trying, so bring your Camera, Three Owls were seen within 2 miles, plus the usual Countryside birds,so bring your Binoculars, the December stay Redwing Fieldfare, Tawny Owl, One evening i could hear 5 different Tawny at same time, from around the area. If you want walks, Wharram Percy, (Wharram Percy deserted village) Thixendale (a quiet dale), Wharram Quarry ( Butterflies and Birds), Settrington High Street. Need the Seaside, try Hummanby Gap, go over the Wolds to Hummanby Gap, Cliff top Car Park, slip road to Beach goes past a Cafe, Tea Coffee Bacon Butties and that your lot, but, Doggy Friendly. How refreshing to find clean, affordable accommodation that takes dogs. We stayed in Dutch Blues cottage for a week in August. Booked fairly last minute so didnt really have much time to do research, so were pleasantly surprised when we walked in the door to find spacious, well-equipped rooms and so homely as well! The kitchen had everything you could want including large fridge freezer, washer and nice big oven. Beautiful furnishings in the bedroom which had comfy bed and plenty storage. Bathroom was huge. The lounge with comfy leather sofas and a flame effect fire made it very cosy. Wifi fine for us. No private garden area but a lovely outside seating area with water feature which unfortunately we didnt have time to enjoy. Lovely walkies for dogs outside the property into the village and countryside. Booking was easy through website with confirmation and prompt email correspondence with Sheila. We had to travel into York every day which took 30 minutes. The short trip into Malton where there were plenty eateries and Morrisons and Lidl probably only took 8 to 10 minutes. We had quite a few conversations with Trevor and found him welcoming and friendly. Wouldnt hesitate to return and recommend to others. You would have to be overly critical to find any (if any) negatives here.

We have been staying at Langhill Cottages on and off for the past 6 years . Troodos or Dutch Blues depending on availability. Nice accomodation , quiet , clean with all mod cons. On a nice summer afternoon , a cup of tea on the patio is very pleasant. The Pub has reopened late last year and in the evening a short walk for a nice pint adds to the relaxation. Trevor and Sheila have made Langhill a delightfull place to stay and we look forward to returning there in august .
