“Lovely comfortable stay with special view of the battle field of Bannockburn”

I hadn't realised when I booked that the cottage is in the grounds of and connected with the King Robert Hotel and right next door to the Battle of Bannockburn heritage centre (worth visiting). The hotel staff were friendly and helpful - even bringing water across to the cottage and offering us breakfast in the hotel when the water was cut off by the water board on the road outside one morning. The hotel has a restaurant so if you wanted not to self-cater you could easily walk across to the hotel and eat there.

The cottage is beautiful inside, decorated nicely, and there is a great view from the dining room and kitchen out to the field where the statue of Robert the Bruce stands. The views from the bedrooms are not that great, one faces the car park and the other the wall of the hotel but I wouldn't be put off by that as the other view more than makes up for it.

There was everything we needed in the cottage and more. It was warm and comfortable. If you sit at the dining table you can look out at the trees which have lots of different bird visitors.

I would like to see a rail installed at the entrance where there are two steps up, as this was a bit difficult for my mum to negotiate. I do like a visitors book when I go to a cottage so this would be a great addition.

I would love a return trip to Bruce's Cottage, especially in the summer when there just may be better weather and I could enjoy sitting out on the outdoor furniture that is provided.
