A trip planned to visit relatives in Glasgow and to get some road cycling with hills under our belts. Brockieside was the perfect location half way up a classic Scottish hill climb. The views were spectacular and you are very soon into some wonderful countryside. even the weather was perfect.

Peter couldn't have been more helpful and was very considerate of our totally blind cocker spaniel. We had absolutely everything we needed in the cottage and there were lots of little extra touches to make our stay even more enjoyable.

Highly recommended as a superb base for lots of different types of break (in our case it was cycling based).

The owner is very helpful and makes sure you have every comfort you need. The cottage is in a fabulous location with good walks straight out the door. Can't wait to get back there again soon.

“Home from home isn't an understatement”

Our host Peter was not only perfect in terms of greeting us, but also his thoughtfulness into the cottage and it's amenities. Not to forget Peter's adorable border terrier. The cottage has everything you can need for a quiet stay, ranging from a good selection of cooking utensils to a nice bath and sky TV. Even an electric blanket for those cold nights! I suggest bring some food and engaging with your culinary skills.

The cottage is situated on a hill with excellent views out of the front door/windows and lovely bedroom views of the sheep strolling across the fields. Furthermore, there are some great nearby walks including the local waterfalls.

The location is great. Not too far from the Edinburgh and Glasgow city life, and a scenic drive away from Loch Lomond (make sure you turn left out of the driveway and not right!).

To summarise, perfect stay for a fantastic price, in a beautiful well furnished cottage which feels like a home (not some placid hotel), surrounded by lovely scenery.

“Cosy cottage stay - perfect weekend break!”

Brockieside cottage was the perfect place for a quite, weekend getaway. Overlooking Kilsyth, the view was beautiful and the cottage was extremely cosy, well furnished and had every utility you might need. Peter was a considerate and kind host and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. We also enjoyed visiting the Boathouse restaurant beside the canal, only a 5 minute drive from the cottage. We would love to visit again in summer time and explore the area more!

We had a fantastic time at Brockieside. Peter Reilly the owner was extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful, and Heeruh the Border Terrier charming. The cottage is very comfortable and very tastefully furnished with everything you could wish for, with a lovely atmosphere which makes you feel immediately at home. Everything is there, computer, television, DVD, sound boxes for iphone /ipod, dishwasher, washing maschine etc.and a fantastic welcoming basket of goodies when you arrive. Well positioned it makes it easy to visit Glasgow, Loch Lomond, and Edinburgh as well as enjoying spectacular walks just outside the door. Kilsyth provides convenient nearby shopping facilities. Simply perfect!

“A wonderful haven”

Brockieside is a wonderful haven. Peter has done a very good job of making the cottage a warm and welcoming home away from home. It is a quiet and restful spot on the hill with expansive views over the valley. The nearest neighbours are sheep and cattle (the sheep may come for a visit if you forget to close the gate!) but you can still get into town within 10 minutes. We highly recommend this beautiful cottage.
