the help we got prior to arriving from david and susan lusted was invaluable.milk, eggs, groceries all in the cottage when we arrived.without the wetroom , bedroom, lounge and kitchen all on one level, we couldnt have had the holiday. the 'wetroom' was a must, so thank you for that. the cottage was so clean, bed linen spotless and the quality appreciated. our car could be parked close to the entrance to the cottage, again this made life very easy for all. we had fabulous food in the local, the buckden inn. the staff there were lovely and so friendly, they accommodated us in a very dignified way. again the ramp and double door entrance, room around tables made meals a pleasure and happy occasion. THANK YOU to 'the ghyll'

Thank you so much for your Review. We do appreciate your positive and kind comments - as much for ourselves as for those seeking the views of guests having first-hand experience of the cottage. We're sure others will gain confidence from your opinions. As we said on your departure, "au revoir" - for we hope to see you back here at The Ghyll one day. Warm regards from us both. Stayed at Dipper Cottage one of three cottages at The Ghyll.
This is a genuine disable fit cottage. Entrance and ground floor access flat and wheelchair friendly. Proper disabled wet room with appropriate grab rails. Top floor excellent for carers with masses of storage. Cottage very well equipped with domestic items and spotlessly clean. Broadband very good and essential as no mobile phone signal in cottage. Phones in cottage have intercom system which is perfect for night assistance calls to carers. Nice welcome messages and items left for guests providing a personal touch. Disabled notebook completed by previous residents very useful. A perfect cottage in an idyllic setting. David Lusted was extremely pleasant and helpful at all times. Would highly recommend to anyone disabled or not.

“Met our needs perfectly”

Buckden is a pleasant village in a lovely part of Upper Wharfedale. The house met our needs perfectly, as we were with very elderly and frail parents. In our experience very few holiday houses that are descibed as adapted for disabled people are in fact so. The Ghyll certainly is, which meant that we could have a relaxing holiday knowing that our parents needs were met. The views in both directions are great, and being within zimmer-frame distance of a nice pub and a gem of a tearoom were added bonusses. Definitely fully recommended..

Thank you so much for your comments - they are always a valued source of feedback and encouragement. In particular, it was good to know from a first-hand viewpoint that the cottage 'worked' for your elderly parents - and therefore yourselves - and we hope this gives confidence to others. In the hope that we can encourage you back - and especially since the Tour de France passes through the village this Saturday - we should like to add a sincere 'au revoir'. David & Susan.

This is just a wonderful place to stay and can not be faulted. The cottage is disabled friendly which was a great plus for me. The views from rear are fantastic looking over a lawn up a valley. It has wi fi Sky and every other amenity that one could wish for or need. Fabulous bed and wet room within bathroom Whole place spotless and very very comfortable. Lovely people who own it too and leave you to enjoy your stay(impossible not to). The Buck Inn too is only 30 yards down the lane. Just fabulous .It needs no improving but Susan says she is to update kitchen so will only get better.

Village lanes could be daunting to the uninitiated, but clearly you enjoyed the challenge! You have been very generous with your comments - and we shall most certainly pass them on to 'Our Ladies'. It is always encouraging to hear that the cottage lived up to expectations and we hope to tempt you back to this beautiful part of the Dales once more in the not too distant future.

Sincere regards,
David & Susan

“Countryside comfort with ease of access in the heart of Wharfedale”

The warmest of welcomes awaited us when we arrived at Swallow Ghyll eventhough the storm clouds were gathering for one of the wettest weeks of the year. The weather was not to daunt us as the cottage proved to be warm, well equiped and totally suitable for the immobility of the oldest member of our family, my 97 year old father. Even on days when it was wet the views from three aspects and the sound of the ghyll stream all added to the charm that was all around the cottage. The ground floor is well thought through for the disabled guests beng easily accessible from the rear car park and being on a single level throughout. The wet room was just a dream.

We are most grateful for your review and delighted to know that the cottage layout worked for your father. It is always very gratifying when guests take the time and trouble to share their experiences and we hope yours will give potential guests confidence to visit us. The time is appropriate for wishing you a very happy Christmas - and the hope that we might welcome you back in the New Year.

Warm regards

What a wonderful review - even if we do say it, since it's about our cottage. The quality of 'poetry' made us think immediately that you should be involved in the writing of our next brochure! Seriously, we are extremely grateful for your review - and can only hope it will spread confidence to others.

Warm regards
