Our second stay at Barefoot Cay was a delight. We like coming during the off-season as it gives us the quiet solitude we appreciate but also a chance to know the staff better, a real treat. This time we stayed in the 2 bedroom villa, well worth the extra cost for the marvelous beachfront deck and views of the lagoon and reef. We came for the snorkeling which was fantastic when the seas cooperated (the 1st few days were very windy creating a rough chop). Snorkeling off the palapa was much better than our first visit, but the best time was had going out on the dive boat to swim along the reef walls. Just wonderful.
We also came to relax and have great food, and weren’t disappointed. The no-see-ums were present, ignoring me in favor of my wife, so bug juice is needed while sitting outside, but their annoyance was minor. The menu is large enough for an extended stay like ours but small enough for excellent preparation. Special requests were no problem. Great dining.
This being the off-season there was some ongoing maintenance during the day but never annoying, more a testament to the resorts commitment to excellence.
The resort changed hands between visits, without missing a beat.
Barefoot Cay of those places that immediately comes to mind when thinking of places to get away and just enjoy.
