My partner and I basically stumbled into La Romita while we were in the small medieval village for a classical music concert. Overall, it completely surprised us with its delicious food.

This is a very unassuming restaurant, and basically one of the only two restaurants we saw in the town. The first thing about this restaurant is that it has an amazing view. It's perfect for a sunset dinner, because all the tables face the valley. (There are mosquitoes during the summer, of course.)

The maître d' basically recited the menu to us in broken English. We tried all different types of food on his recommendation, which I definitely recommend.

The antipasta plate was beautiful and contained only vegetarian items. There is a heavy vegetarian focus at this restaurant, and between the two of us, the vegetarian dishes definitely beat the meat dishes. There was a spelt dish in little croquettes that was absolutely fantastic.

This restaurant is quite the little gem of a find. Very local and very authentic. Because we didn't see a menu, we were complete tourists and ordered a Caprese salad, to which he scoffed at me and said they don't make mozzarella cheese here so why would he serve that here. I learned that factoid, all right!

Definitely recommend if you're in town!

We are sorry that not everyone has had a great experience here. We believe this was our 2nd favorite restaurant of the four we ate at in Montisi.

The ambiance was quite homey. The food was authentic and well prepared.

It is not a large restaurant, so we highly recomend reservations.

We enjoyed it so much that we went back a 2nd time. Don't miss this wonderful restaurant.

We thought we would try La Romita as it offers traditional Tuscan food. 180 Euros for the four of us which is twice we have paid anywhere else. Food was very oily and heavy, wife was not happy at all!

Our family group of nine (6 adults and 3 kids) are here for a long, leisurely Tuscan lunch recently. The antipasto plate was absolutely amazing and was my favorite plate of food of our whole trip (which is really saying something). Also, the family was very accommodating to our children (2 of whom are very picky eaters--they didn't even charge us for their plates of pasta). Highly recommend for an outside lunch.
