“It has become our second home :)”
Reviewed September 25, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We were here last year and we were more than pleased again to be here for another 8 days. Unfortunately for us, there were a group of cyclists in the house just before us and they left the whirlpool in such a state that the caretaker (a lovely guy) couldn't get it absolutely before our first use, but he came over and cleaned it again and the next day after as well, and finally all was good. As I mentioned earlier, this was our second visit and it won't be our last, we will be back next year for definite Phil. The whole area is so beautiful and laid back, if you want peace and quiet go to this place you will love it.
The only thing that spoiled this trip was the weather, it was too warm and we couldn't take advantage of the fire.......but that's it really. All in all......fantastic place........we'll be back.
Oh and one more thing for Phil, some larger glasses and more cutlery would be helpful :)

“Rather dissapointing considering the good reviews”
Reviewed September 10, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

The cabin itself is lovely . Clean and comfortable, great beds, well equipped kitchen.
The hot tub was dirty on our arrival and the caretaker didn't know how to clean it! WE were only staying for a short break and by the time it was cleaned we were set to go home. The owner seemed a nice man although he was away when we arrived but the caretaker was unhelpful and rude unfortunately . Our holiday was great and the location is super for walking and relaxing The rude, miserable caretaker spoilt what could have been a lovely lasting memory of a nice place.
TIP... Check the hot tub as soon as you arrive. It takes a long time to sort it out. It is expensive in comparison and with hindsight I would look elsewhere. I wouldn't book again.

“Absolutely Perfect!”
Reviewed August 26, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Wow! what a fantastic 3 night break in the heart of Snowdonia National Park! I booked this as a surprise for my boyfriends birthday, we brought our Labradoodle with us, I have never been to North Wales before & was totally blown away by how beautiful it is! Luckily the weather was pretty good all weekend! On arrival we were ecstatic with the cabin! the hot tub heated & ready to use! The lodge was immaculate, you even get bathrobes! it really is a home from home! the bed is so comfortable! there is everything there that you need! The kitchen is well stocked with utensils! The BBQ was great! i didn't realise there was a SAUNA too! & the log fire.....just wow! there are even some DVD's there in case you forget to bring some like i did, but there is freesat so plenty of channels to watch. We drove to Snowdon the next morning, took us just over an hour & there we took the Llanberis Path up the mountain, it took us 6 hours to walk up & back down! i was surprised at how tough it was,I'm so glad I brought walking shoes & wore layers, its very steep & slippy in places, its a MOUNTAIN not a large hill! & its about -2 at the top in August! we saw someone fall & the mountain rescue had to come out! When we got back to the cabin, we could barely walk!! The hot tub & sauna was soooooo needed!! The next day we went for a carvery about 7 miles away (I'd spotted the sign the day before) it was AMAZING! then we did the Torrent Walk in Brithdir which took us a couple of hours & its a lovely walk, especially if its lightly raining as its in quite dense woodland, you can walk from the cabin along the road (20 mins), or you can park in the layby where the walk starts, later on we cycled from Dolgellau to Barmouth on the Mawddach trail, this took us 2 hours (18 miles) we stopped for dinner in a lovely pub by the toll bridge! The only negative thing I have to say is the morning we were leaving...i thought we had to be out by 11 but it was 10, my bad, i got up at 7am to clean the cabin as its to be left in the condition you arrived in & the owner says he charges you if things aren't cleaned properly etc, just after 9am i got the fright of my life as someone was cleaning out the hot tub then just before 10am the cleaner arrived & I was rushing around trying to finish packing / cleaning & the caretaker was lovely & said no rush but i felt like i was being rushed out & i do appreciate that other guests may be arriving at 4pm We have been to Egypt & Barcelona this year on holidays & my boyfriend said this was the best holiday he's had EVER! & i am gutted we are home! we would 100% return! I'm unsure what you would do if it rains....but there are so many things i would love to go back & do if the weather is dry.

“Fabulous family holiday cabin with only a couple of drawbacks.”

Good points first (and there are many!) incredibly spacious, comfy furniture, quiet location, incredibly well kitted out: wifi, freesat, DVD player, telephone, huge fridge/freezer, huge cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, hair drier, log burner, hot tub and a sauna. Lovely soft complimentary dressing gowns and towels, luxurious bedding, and finally some lovely touches such as tea, milk and cakes on arrival.

We had a lovely week, spent hours exploring the beautiful welsh mountains, and generally it was very comfortable and relaxing in the cabin, even when it rained all day. For what it cost for a family of four in August, we would say it was pretty darn good value for money.

Only a couple of things let it down. The immense dust/spider webs in every corner, floor, ceiling, above the doorways and windows. We had to vacuum extensively. And then there were the extensive list of 'rules'. Now, I understand they are somewhat necessary to keep the place in good condition but to say they were overkill is an understatement (esp if you have children and/or a canine companion.) There are laminated notices everywhere, telling you when/where/what you must/must not do, also with examples of how people have misbehaved in the past! ie a list of what you cannot put down the toilet, including nappies, 'oh yes we've had someone do this'. Now we are decent people, I'd like to think we are considerate and would have the common sense not to put nappies down a toilet! We are certainly not stupid, but all these detailed rules made you feel like you just could be! To be honest towards the end of the week it was grating on my nerves because you felt like you couldn't completely relax!

Also, one morning mid-week we were still in our dressing gowns, and a chap walks right past the windows and goes into the back garden -a tad alarming- eventually he knocks on the back door (not front) and tells us he's here to 'check' the hot tub (for which the rules are extensive!) Couldn't help but feel he was checking up on us. Same guy also turned up fifteen minutes before we were due to leave on the last day - again felt like he was checking up on us, ensuring we were leaving by the designated time.

One other thing to note, which has nothing to do with this cabin, is that there are hardly any decent shops or supermarkets for miles and miles around! We had an Asda delivery when we got there but needed some things later, apart from a few Spa stores with limited (expensive) goods, we couldn't find a larger supermarket without having to drive for nearly two hours! On one hand it's lovely to be so remote and quiet but just make sure you take everything you need!

Would we go back again? That's the million dollar question... on facilities, location and value alone, I guess, yes. But with all those stifling rules and the checking up on you... maybe not. As much as I loved our holiday in this cabin, I think we will be looking elsewhere next year.

“Fantastic!”

I was expecting a lot and I wasn't disappointed!! The lodge was spacious and clean with everything you needed, a proper home from home. Milk and cakes in the fridge when we arrived and the jacuzzi already warm. There was nothing not to like! A great location for travelling around Snowdonia. We particularly liked Barmouth but ventured as far as Snowdon and the surrounding area.
Myself and my 2 children (7 & 8) will definitely return. They said it was the best holiday they'd had in this country.
