Although somewhat familiar with Lake Tahoe, this was our first stay on the South Shore. We chose to stay at Deerfield Lodge because of our wonderful experience at the sister property in Sedona (Inn Above Oak Creek). Again - a perfect choice!! The lodge was just recently rebuilt so they were able to do it RIGHT. We stayed in a one bedroom full suite which was spacious and convenient, and IMMACULATE! The kitchen allowed us to start our day slowly and the washer/dryer allowed us to have clean clothes at the half-way point of our 10 day trip. As with the Sedona property, the staff here is OUTSTANDING. Brooks and Brianna were available for area information, suggestions, or just a warm greeting. The lodge is within easy walking distance to several great restaurants, as well as the lake shore - but peaceful, private and quiet. Yes - it sounds too good to be true, but don't miss the chance to stay here and you will be amazed!

We booked the Deerfield Lodge at Heavenly based on Trip Advisor reviews for our first visit to Lake Tahoe. The raving reviews all sounded too good to be true, and we were quite skeptical. Well, the reviews were all spot on. This newly renovated hotel was really that good! Here are a few of the other details that may be helpful:
1. Rooms: the hotel is perfect for couples with young children. All first floor rooms lead directly into a large fenced in courtyard and the little ones can have plenty of space to roam around. We stayed in an one bedroom suite on the second floor. There's a small alcove in the living room that could easily accommodate a port-a-crib. All second floor rooms have private balconies. Most of the rooms have washer and dryer and the bathrooms are huge with separate tub and shower. The hotel is very quiet overall, so of course, it is great for couples also.
2. Housekeeping: the rooms are spotless. We made a mistake of hanging a do not disturb sign on our door instead of requesting maid service, so the room was not cleaned when we came back from being out all day. Brooke, the front desk manager moved at lightning speed and found someone to clean our room right away.
3. Services: Brooke was an amazing manager; he was kind, attentive and personable. He made us feel very much at home. We noticed that there were no herbal teas in the rooms and he ordered them right away. He also gave excellent suggestions to the restaurants and attractions in the area.
4. Restaurants: Must try Chimayo, walking distance from the hotel. The brisket is truly heavenly.
5. Location: Perfect quiet and convenient locale for visitors that are looking for a relaxing time in Tahoe; close to attractions, restaurants, shops and yet not in the midst of it, like the casinos.
6. Value: Our one bedroom suite was less than $200 per night, which was quite reasonable for Lake Tahoe standards.

Visit was for my boyfriend's birthday, stay in the one bedroom full suite. Room very clean and stocked kitchen very useful. Staff is very friendly, gave us a bottle of wine for his birthday and was able to suggest some good restaurants in the area. Great place and good location.

A cosy place with great staff. Looks unimpressive from the outside, however the rooms were the best throughout our 2,5 weeks westcoast trip.

A small fire place in the rooms makes the whole atmosphere perfect. They rebuilt the hotel just recently. So the standard is way above would you normally get. Would love to come back during winter times.

Many, many thanks for your kind words...and so glad it felt like home! That is always our goal, so I am thankful our little property came across like that to you.

Regarding the exterior, we are currently in the process of completing the landscaping. During the rebuilding of the hotel, much of our landscaping got destroyed. Now that it is late May (ie no snow!) we can now make the exterior look as close to perfect as possible!

Thank you again for your review. And we DO hope to get you back here during the winter!
