“Perfect stay”
Reviewed February 2, 2016 for a stay in September 2015

We chose Glenboy for it's convenience for attending a family wedding but were blown away by how relaxing and enjoyable our stay there was, It's a beautiful and spacious place ideally situated for access to the town and country. It was easy to get to from Dublin and Patrick provided a very warm welcome for us all. We would definitely recommend it.

The cottage was comfortable, even more roomy than we expected. We had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable. The location is quiet, just outside of Oldcastle town. Oldcastle has pubs, grocery, a few restaurants, butcher shop, etc. The cottage is very near to Loughcrew cairns, which are smaller than Newgrange, but much more interesting in that they aren't overrun by tourists (at least not yet....). Easy drive to Fore Abbey and Trim Castle.

Liked best: Quiet setting, but many things to see and do within easy driving distance.
Liked least: Yard could be set up differently for outdoor relaxing/dining.

“Enjoyable - loads of character and bags of room”

We stayed for a few days over Xmas and used it as a base whilst we visited sick relatives in the area. It was everything it said on the tin and more. The converted (and extended) barn is full of character, has loads of room and is located in a rural setting but with pub and restaurant amenities nearby in Oldcastle. Patrick & Karen were friendly hosts and responded to a couple of queries we had in a professional and timely manner. This is a good place to get an authentic experience of 'real' Ireland!

We traveled from the United States with extended family to meet family members who live in Ireland. We stayed for a week. The host family was wonderful. They were very accommodating especially when one of our family members fell ill. They helped us celebrate our youngest of the group's birthday. The house was clean, spacious, and properly managed. The house accommodates for wheelchair access including a shower for people with disabilities. We had a lovely time in Ireland!. Terrific vacation rental. I wish we could do it every year.

Warm welcome. Fist class accommodation with all rooms very tastefully decorated and furnished. We were a family of four with two teenagers who both enjoyed their luxury bedrooms. As per other reviews the beds were very comfortable.

“The best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in, without a doubt.”

This is the second time the six of us have stayed in the property in the last year. We were looking for accommodation within easy reach of Oldcastle where my 86 year old Dad was born. We also wanted to be able to get to Dublin easily but to stay in a country property, and to find somewhere which would cater for the family age range of 18 to 86. The location of Glenboy was perfect. It also offered a suburb location for visiting the many local places of interest as well as very easy access to Dublin.

Little did we realise though, what a lovely house awaited us. The most comfortable beds ever, the most well equipped and thoughtfully furnished house we have ever stayed in. The decor has obviously been very well planned and the space was wonderful. We had the bonus of house martins nesting in the eaves and the local bullocks eager to watch our comings and goings.
Oldcastle is a very welcoming town, with all the services you'd need, and Owen Traynor's bar serves the best Guinness around, and has the warmest welcome you could hope for.
Last but by no means least was the welcome we received from the Glenboy owners, who couldn't do enough for us. Thank you again.

The hosts were very helpful in every way. There was nothing I would have changed about our stay in Glen Boy! We had everything we needed and more. The property is out in the country side, so peaceful! The village of Old Castle is quaint and met all our desires. The only thing our wifi network kept crashing, the hosts gave us other sites to go to when one crashed.
