The experience began right from the time we arrived at the dock with the breeze and smells of the coast and working harbor to boarding the Uchuck III with fresh coffee brewing. Bring a warm sweater and jacket for the cooler days and comfortable shoes. Everything is casual. A camera with a good Zoom lens is desirable. You will see whales, Helicopter logging in progress on the inlets, eagles by the dozen, seals, sea otters. You will visit Fish farms, Logging camps, fishing lodges, even a spiritual outreach camp. The scenery is spectacular. Kyuquot Harbor is a quaint historic village where you will be lodged for the night. Basic but comfortable accommodations await. Good trail walks to see first growth trees with lots of huckle berries along the way. The guests went for a delicious Halibut & Chips dinner with the best brownies. The next morning began with a fresh fruit sausages & eggs, coffee buns or toast. The return trip was every bit as spectacular as going. The cook had a clam chowder and freshly made sandwiches. for a reasonable cost. therefore bring some cash for lunches aboard, and for some of the native art sold at the dock. The trip we took was a two day trip, We will be recommending this trip to everyone we can. I have fished the area 24 years ago and it was great to be back. Born and raised on the Island these trips are Magic.

We really loved our Kyuquot trip. We'd never taken a cruise before and didn't know what to expect. The vast open water and all the trees was breathtaking. The crew was exceptionally friendly and let us tour the ship. We made lots of new friends. A wonderful, relaxing trip. We loved it!

It was delightful. Be sure to take a nice thick sweater and a rain jacket (with hood) and maybe a toque and gloves as well, the moist cool air really penetrates. We saw 7 humpback whales, several rafts of sea otters, etc. . The crew is delightfully friendly and the on-land accommodation (in very small villages!) was friendly, clean and quiet.

We loved our 3 day Esperanza working vessel trip! We enjoyed excellent food, great accommodation, interesting company and very good service from all the staff and crew involved.
We rate this adventure high on our 'must do' list and encourage anyone and everyone to book a trip on the MVUchuck lll.
We were able to book an excellent B&B (Les Arbres) the night before and thankfully even had our dog cared for by a lovely kind lady in Gold River while we were onboard for 3 days, both referred to us by Julie in the Get West office.

The scenery was spectacular and crew both friendly and helpful. Particularly the lady that prepared lunch and breakfast

The actual accomodation offered at Kyuquot was well past its sell by date. That included the beds (bunk beds for couples ) the sheets and pillows

The meal provided was at best edible and was served teppid

That said the breakfast served on the ship was fantastic

Overall the community could do so much more that just dump us and feed us with food that was just "OK". I really dont think this trip (2 day) was value for money - next time I think I will do just the day trip
