In a town without cell reception, wifi is crucial. There are many networks across the hotel but it's really hard to find a good signal.
I had to be out of my room in order to get it...
Breakfast was the most minimal I've seen in a long time so don't expect anything.

Friendly, simple, affordable. Close to good food at Lil Roadies and Clayworks Cafe, easy access to the all the fishing and hiking the Nootka Sound has to offer. If I ever want to torture myself on the Nootka Trail again, I would totally stay here again.

We overnighted in Gold River so as to take the Uchuck III boat trip the next day. The Gold River Chalet was just fine. Basic, felt safe, was quiet, clean as can be and comfortable. Lana is was helpful and welcoming. A basic breaky iof toast & cereals s available in her hospitality suite. We would stay here again for a night for sure.

Room tip: Ours needed to be a pet oom which was on main level and very clean.

We would not dream of staying anywhere else!! The Gold River Chalet is nothing fancy, but is clean, very quiet, and oh so friendly... This is our 3 year at the chalet and we always feel welcomed. Lana who runs the hotel is amazing, very helpful in finding the caves, and places to go. The social/ breakfast room is well stocked and a great place for cards. And the little touches around the chalet, books, maps, artwork, outdoor seats are much appreciated :)

Our room was spacious, clean, and welcoming. There were two extremely comfortable chairs to sit in and play cards or watch TV. There is a recycling box as well as a garbage can which is always appreciated.

there is a large kitchen where breakfast is served which guests are allowed to use to either watch the huge screen TV, socialize, eat their self-catered meals. Better still this kitchen offers REAL dishes and cutlery. None of that extravagant plastic waste which is so common elsewhere.

One caution: there was no air conditioning in our room. If we'd been visiting in the heat of the earlier part of summer, it may have been difficult to get a good night's sleep.
