Stayed here for one night with my husband and 2 kids.
I screwed up and booked this HIE instead of another I was looking at that had a pool, so the kids were disappointed.
The staff at reception are very helpful and courteous. Thank you Ian, Eric, Johanna for making us feel special.
We have been using this hotel since my grown children were little and keep coming back when routing through YVR. While the hotel decor has changed more than once over the past 20+ years, the quality and service has remained consistent. We always ask for a quiet room with extra pillows, and that is what is always waiting for us.
The staff are always pleasant and attentive to our needs.
Used this hotel as it was near the airport. The hotel offered a free shuttle to and from the airport. Walkable distance to Bridgeport Station for the buses or sky trains to Vancouver & Vancouver airport. Buses to numerous places including the ferry terminal for Victoria (Vancouver Island). No restaurant/bar on site but the shuttle bus would take you to the Fogg N' Suds at Holiday Inn. There were other restaurants nearby but not many. In our opinion we found Fogg N' Suds to be the best. Breakfast was a typical American/Canadian express breakfast but the plates were crockery and knives and fork were proper ones, not plastic. The room had a safe, microwave, coffee machine and fridge. Our room had two queen size beds which were very comfortable. Outside the hotel was a large Costco which rooms overlooked. Movement of heavy trucks started between 6 - 7am and into the evening, which could disturb light sleepers. Hotel was very clean, rooms were clean, well stocked and maintained.

Many of our guests find that we are centrally located to gain access to numerous areas throughout the city so we're glad that you also took advantage. Also, we have recognized that the city noise may potentially disturb light sleepers, so we have recently supplied all rooms with new white noise machines - which both our staff and guests love!

My wife and I stayed here as it was a central to seeing friends and family. Cindy (reception) was polite and prompt in terms of checking us in and reviewing all the details of our stay. Nice touch with the free breakfast and that saves my $15/person if I would have to by breakfast myself. Only thing I wish that could be avoided is the traffic congestion (and noise) but that is a dull noise in the background. Good location and clean hotel and good staff will keep me coming back.
Flew in from Toronto had advised hotel arrival would be after 11pm and that as always no inter-connecting room please (you always here too much from next door ) & our HI Ex preferences already stated room NOT near to lift so no worries there.
22:50 shuttle bang on time, checked in, took lift to room to find, it was right next to the lift shaft and then once inside, yup, it had an inter-communicating door and despite it being 11:30pm you could hear the sound of cartoons from next door coming through the door.
Went back downstairs to try and get room changed, but no more rooms available that night, so basically despite preferences for not being near a lift shaft being on file, this is ignored with last to check in getting the room no one else wants with the sound of the lift cables whirring up and down most of the night and the occasional “ding” when the lift opened at the 5th floor! Then the icing on the cake, the cartoon lovers next door were up and about at 03:30 obviously for an early flight.
Fortunately duty manager Jon Eric did sort everything for us the next day and with a much better non-communicating room which on checking out was blocked out for our return 8 days later.
However those 8 days later, the blocked out room was no longer allocated and the initial room offered was, yes another inter-communicating room, but being early afternoon this was swiftly changed though staff seemed uncertain as to which rooms did and didn’t link with an adjoining room! As former hotel owner we realise you can’t please everyone all of the time, but you would save yourselves a lot of hassle if you noted IHG Club members preferences or emails sent advising of a special occasion by sometimes pre-allocating rooms.
Rooms and breakfast typical HI Ex standard does what it says on the tin, but nice touch that fresh milk can be got from reception that is no much nicer than the artificial stuff. Garage parking for hire car was perfect and free as a staying guest.
Location is good with easy walk to Italian restaurant and subway station for downtown Vancouver.
My husband and I have stayed here many times. It has always been good but the recent renovations have really improved it. Our room had a very comfy king size bed, a large TV, microwave and fridge. Great bathroom. Loved the mirror. The staff here is very very good and make you feel welcome. Location is good. The airport is a few kilometers away with an available shuttle. Sky train station is a 5 minute walk away that will take you to Richmond or to downtown Vancouver in 20 minutes. Easy access to major highways if you are driving. Free breakfast is ok. I liked their coffee.
