We visited Harmony Outdoor Inn for 2 nights in June and has occupied two of the tents. It was our first time glamping and what a wonderful experience it was. James & team made our stay very comfortable. The property is very well maintained and our stay was quite comfortable. Property is neat and the team is excellent. It sure was the most comfortable way of camping! Parry Sound itself is a wonderful town and the property is located very close to all necessities (wallmart/sobeys/Tim’s/Starbucks/Marks..).

We also did the guided Kayak tour with James and it was great as well.

I would not stay here again. Harmony Outdoor Inn is more of a camping hostel complete with instructions to strip the sheets off your bed and sweep out your tent upon departure. This does not meet the standard of glamping - showers have a bad odour, no running water in the kitchen, outhouses instead of toilets etc. No one greeted me upon arrival at 6:30 pm and although I phoned and rang the bell at the main house, there was no one around and no note / instructions left for me. I located my tent and was shown the location of facilities by another guest. The Inn's phone line does not accept messages so I emailed a request for the water reservoir to be refilled on the second day. Such things should be monitored and topped up but there were no staff about. As the request was ignored, I tracked down someone loading kayaks in the parking lot just before dark and asked for his help to refill the reservoir. That was my sole interaction with anyone who worked there. Very odd. Most importantly, the Inn should publicize the fact that sleep will be affected by the sounds of heavy train traffic complete with hornblowing and road traffic on the busy Hwy 400 which is close enough to see from the property. They do provide earplugs which was my early clue that I would not be getting a good night's rest. The earplugs were somewhat helpful but not enough to mask the horn blasts. I now see from a response to other review complaints that the owners defend the train noise as being a matter of Parry Sound's proud heritage. That is not the point; they should disclose that the Inn is situated in a very noisy location and let their customers decide if that matters or not. Since this is a place that people intend to use for sleep, excessive noise is a consideration. The tent was fine (screens need repair), the site is pretty and the beach and waterfront are the highlight. Not at all worth $160/night. For $175 you can stay at the nearby Comfort Inn, a place to charge your phone overnight, have a private bathroom with running water and a good night's sleep so you can enjoy your day (they also change the beds and clean the room after you leave). Or for $40, you can camp at Killbear Provincial Park have the same or better amenities as Harmony Outdoor Inn - just bring your own tent.

Room tip: Bring a charged battery pack for your phone. The only plugs are in the outdoor kitchen.

Hello Jacqueline, thank you for coming to stay with us at Harmony Outdoor Inn. I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your start with us as much as most people do. As we are conveniently located close to the town of Parry Sound which is close to HWY 400 on some nights there will be more noise from the road than others. We wish we could do something about this but it is out of our control. We have lots of comments about how nice it is to sleep in a tent and listen to the rain and the birds so I guess it just depends on if a tent is for you or not.
We are priced the way we are because we are a completely different experience than a Comfort Inn. You are right that you can charge your phone and have a private ensuite there but what we offer is more of an experience than just a night. We have a communal kitchen area where guests meet each other and share stories or a bottle of wine and charge their phones. We are the only waterfront accommodation in town and offer free use of kayaks, SUP and canoes. You can also just choose to sit in one of our many Muskoka chairs or hammocks. You can't prepare yourself a meal at the Comfort Inn but we supply everything for each tent to prepare meals during their stay.
I acknoledge that Harmony Outdoor Inn isn't for everyone and we strongly discourage people who are light sleepers or people who want to be close to their car or who would rather watch TV than listen to the rain on the tent. This is a unique expereience that many people enjoy. Thanks again for your stay.

Everything at the Inn was clean and in good repair. They are very organized and its easy to figure out your space in the Kitchen Pavilion (2 fridge shelves and a cupboard full of dishes and pans for your use) Its also very clear how to use the dry outhouse. Before you leave you are expected to bring your used sheets to the laundry basket, sweep your space, and wash and put away your dishes. (helps to keep the cost down) The walk from the parking lot to the Forest Tents is not short. Don't bring more then you need. No food or glass allowed in tents, helps to keep it clean and critter free. Socialize with others if you like, or keep to yourself. If you are antsy, Parry Sound and its stores and restaurants are a short drive away. I look forward to going back with a friend, or family member or even solo! Note that there is an active train track nearby as well as 'highway-hum.' This was not problematic for us, but keep it in mind if you are looking for a totally silent greenspace.

Stayed in the Superior Room of the bed and breakfast for 2 nights. The room is very large, clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was delicious with many options. Enjoyed how it was serve yourself as it could accommodate various schedules. The property has a nice waterfront and trails to walk on. While not camping the amenities offered looked great with a big common area to cook and eat. The only downside was the noise at night. There were 3 rooms in the b&b with the other two sharing a bathroom in the hall. The first night we were woken up more than once with doors opening and closing as people used the washroom in the middle of the night. The second night a different group of people were staying and all got up around 5am and were quite loud going back and forth between the bathroom, talking amongst themselves and getting ready for their day. Aside from some sleep disruption we really enjoyed our stay.

Thanks for coming to stay thompson761. We are sorry that you had some noisy guests staying at the B&B during your visit. I will see what I can do to make the bathroom door close quieter to avoid this happening in the future. All the best!

Our stay at the Harmony Outdoor Inn and trip with Ontario Sea Kayak Centre exceeded our expectations! The owners are super friendly and helpful, the Inn is impeccably clean and relaxing, and our Georgian Bay day trip was a great adventure!

I would highly recommend Harmony and OSKC anytime, but their response to looking after their guests during Covid is truly worth writing about. Harmony & OSKC are inherently well set up for Covid safety measures (well spaced prospector tents with their own outhouses, screened pavilion for good air flow in common area, plenty of space to relax/play on their beach and no shortage of personal space on the Bay!), but in addition they have added hand sanitizer everywhere, assigned food shelves/cupboards/dishware for each tent, added additional spaced apart seating (indoors and out) for meals and maintained social distancing in and out of the kayak.

If you are looking for a safe and fun get away this summer this is the place!
