I am a Kenora resident and haven't really dined at the Clarion other than bar appetizers.
I heard that the Clarion was offering a Thanksgiving dinner special, October 7-8 so I made a reservation for myself and my 90 year old father who was looking forward to a traditional turkey dinner.
We arrived at the time of our reservation however there was no one at the hostess stand to great us and seat us. We had to wait about 5 minutes before we were acknowledged and seated ( well sort of seated as the person who greeted us walked towards the windows and pointed at a table)
We sat our selves and looked at the menus which were all ready on the table and decided that we would both have the turkey special mine with Greek salad and my father the chicken soup.
About 5 minutes later a young man came by the table ( I assumed he was our waiter as there was no introduction) and asked if we wold like something from the bar. We ordered a 1/2 L of Pinot Noir which arrived about 5 minutes later.
Our you waiter seemed preoccupied and rushed even though the restaurant was not busy at the time.
Upon receiving our wine the waiter said he would be back to take our order and I indicated that we were ready to order.
We ordered our meals soup and salad arrived about 12 minutes later. My greek salad was fresh and flavorful and my father really enjoyed his soup.
About 13 minutes later our meal arrived and the plates looked very nice, we started to eat and found that every on the plate was either cold or luke warm. We did not eat anything as paying a good dollar for a cold turkey dinner was unacceptable.
About five minutes later I was able to get the attention of our waiter and explain to him our meals were cold. He apologized, offered to have the meals re-made and take 15% of our bill. I told I didn't want 15% off the bill just a hot acceptable turkey dinner.
He took the plates away and came back a few moments later advising that the our dinners would be a few minutes as the kitchen was remaking them from scratch.
Our dinners arrived about 10 minutes later and they were the same plated meals that had been taken away. ( the indent on the tops of the mashed potatoes we took an initial taste from were still evident on these so called new meals. Also the piece of bread I put on plate was still on my plate.
This was totally unacceptable as if I wanted a microwaved turkey dinner I would have purchased 2 hungry man dinners, microwaved them at home and saved 40.00.
I informed the waiter and asked for our bill less the turkey dinners which we ate nothing of and left.
Wow what a negative experience and no one to explain their standard of reheating meals or a managers apology.
Definitely won't be back.
