I had the worst customer service experience of my life at the Clarion Hotel. I had booked a block of rooms for my wedding in addition to booking the honeymoon suite the night before and night of my wedding so my bridesmaids and I had a room to get ready in. After a series of issues and errors that had gone wrong with the booking I went down to the Clarion with my mom and fiancé to speak to someone directly. I wanted to ensure I had the room available for getting ready at 8am on my wedding day (saturday) and the booking person told me not to worry and that she would just put a note on my file that we had an 8am check in, this seemed too good to be true that we wouldn’t have to pay for the Friday night as well but she insisted that she would give us this deal for the wedding and even turned the computer screen to show my mom and I it was booked for 8am, I offered to pay for the room the night before several times and stressed how important it was I had the room for 8am. She reassured me the room would be ready with no issue. The week of my wedding, I stopped by the hotel to hand out information packets for my wedding guests and just to double check my room was going to be ready to go for 8am. The staff there informed me that was not the case and the room had been booked, that they saw the note on my file but it was essentially meaningless. I asked that the manager Terry, call me, which she did. Terry insisted that I was wrong, my memory was incorrect and she was right and continued to insist that I had made the mistake. Let me be clear, I was meticulous in my wedding planning with spreadsheets and checklists for even the smallest detail, there he no way I would have left the major detail of getting ready on my wedding day to chance. However, even if I was mistaken, the hotel could have done a much better job of accommodating me on my wedding day and their manager, Terry, in particular was very rude and accusatory and should certainly receive customer service training. After much negotiating with my fiancé, they were able to get me a much smaller room that could not properly accommodate my wedding party at full price. I thought my nightmare would end there but it would continue. On the day of my wedding I went to make a cup of tea and my mug was stained and the tea water came out brown and dirty from the Keruig. I called the front desk and they told me to go to the dinning room if I wanted a tea and didn’t seem at all concerned that there were dirty dishes in my room. Since the booking was messed up, we they had to change rooms on our wedding day. We requested that we check into our next room at 1pm instead of 3pm as our wedding was at 4pm. The booking staff said this would not be possible and proceeded to shout at my father in law (My sister could hear them through the phone) while getting my wedding photos that we must be back to our hotel by 3pm. Finally after about 15 mins on the phone, he was able to convince the housekeeping staff to move my stuff rooms for me so I didn’t have to pack up a hotel room 30 mins before my wedding. I am grateful that my family was able to convince them to move my items for me so I wouldn’t be late for my own wedding but other than that the whole experience was a nightmare and put a damper on my wedding weekend.
