Do you like Heroin Chic but the real life scary experience of it?

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 25, 2023
Rooms are filthy and disgusting. Nothing like pics. In a bad area and surrounded by substance abusers.
Windows did not lock, carpet so dirty I didn't want to walk on it without shoes on.
A substance abuser and her "boyfriend" fought in room next door banging walls and storming up/down hallway. Then the substance abuser pulled the fire alarm and building had to evacuate.

When we called desk they said they were "evaluating the situation" and it was our fault for not calling them - not their fault for not watching security cameras.
Had to go to front desk and yell at clerk to call police as he didn't when we called on the phone. We were then told to go back to our room not knowing if the couple that was violently fighting had actually started a fire or not

When I told manager that I wanted $ for all this disturbance and inaction by employee and had no sleep and the filthy state of the rooms ... I was only offered $20 dollars and told they didn't have to speak with Fire Dept. or Police when they came as they "know them": meaning they are there often
.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS TRAVELODGE Please especially if you have children..... it's outrageously dirty and scary.
I've attached pics of the syringes and condoms that are just behind the parking lot. I also attached a copy of their door instructions. Which pretty much shows you what they expect to happen during your stay.

Disgusting. We are in a back part of the hotel and it is stinky and damp. The chairs in the room are stained have food bits on them. The carpet is ancient and filthy. The screen gave big holes. There are holes in the wall up a narrow staircase to 2nd floor. This is ridiculous for the price.
At least the desk clerk is friendly.

Room tip: Find a different hotel!

Come to Kenora every year on business and stopped staying here but lack of vacancy this summer forced me to again. Pools have been under renovation for several years. Some rooms were renovated not too long ago and has potential to be ok but the smell is horrible. Smells like a combination of wet dog and old vomit.

This is a really nasty hotel. The hallways are dark and dingy. The carpets everywhere are disgusting. In a very congested part of town. I'd rather sleep in my car. The price is outrageous for what you get. If you can avoid staying here....you should. It's awful

Room tip: Don't stay here

Room looked like it wasn’t updated since the 70’s. Musty smell. Carpet stained and hard. Window was dirty and screen was torn. Pool was closed and wasn’t informed at time of booking, had I known I would have booked elsewhere

Our stay was March 28th, we arrived after a 14 hour drive to what was, the worst hotel rooms we've ever stayed at by far.
We found boogers, and other unknown stains on both the bed sheets. There was mold on the lamp shades in the room, the flooring was very dirty. We never took our shoes off because of the severity of its condition.
The door lock to our room was not working in 109. The safety latch above the door knob was broken. (Wood was broken from the trim - seems like someone must have kicked it in, in the past) so our door to our room was not locked at all because of this issue.
There was engraved names of previous customers staying at the hotel on the head board of the bed.
My partner went to the front desk to speak to someone, there was only one gentleman working that night. He told my partner mitch that he could issue us a full refund if we return the key cards. After calling several other hotels, everywhere else was booked. The staff member said he could only offer us a $20 discount for each room since the manager Sue was not in.
He gave us a phone number to call the manager Sue the very next day regarding a full refund. 1-800-468-3155
The front desk then told us he would give us clean sheets for the bedding but no maid was available so we had to strip and change the sheets ourselves. (We placed all the dirty bedding onto the other bed in the room.)
The next day upon leaving we called Sue at the recommendation of the male employee to discuss our stay. Our experience with Sue was, to put it politely, less than professional. Sue was argumentative, and believed that the condition of her hotel was acceptable, and had zero respect for us as travelodge clients.
Sue was not at the hotel when we spoke to front desk and over the phone she said "we offered you a full refund" which was incorrect.
The staff member DID offer us a full refund if we left the hotel, leaving us without a place to sleep for the night. We obviously decided to deal with the situation as the conditions that night were not warm enough for us to sleep in our cars.
Sue also argued with us saying it was not -20 degrees on march 28th. Google historical data on that night in Kenora and you'll find it was -19 degrees.

Room tip: Just don't go here... you'll pay $160 for a disgusting room. We didn't even take our shoes off in the room it was so bad. Check your sheets.
