We were celebrating our friends 40th birthday and wanted it to be extra special. After timeless hours researching...we decided to stay at this newly built chalet. WOW...was the first word out of everyone's mouth when they first walked in! The main floor is open concept with a spectacular view of the lake with gleaming hardwood floors, a gas fireplace, beautiful furniture, stainless steel appliances and even a dining room table that seats 16 people. The kitchen was fully stocked with plates/cutlery/glasses/pots ... an AMAZING island with stools...and the list goes on. The second floor has a spectacular games room with a ping pong table, air hockey, and a gitoni table. The wrap around windows are amazing! There are 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in total & PLENTY of space for parking vehicles on the property. If you want to watch movies ... the big screen TV's are perfect! You can go tobogganing or go tubing on the snow banks in the Winter. It truly was an incredible 3 day stay and we have just booked it again for the same group of people. We plan on making this an annual get away!

The cottage was great overall - large, high-end, very well outfitted, with a stretch of beach out front that was fantastic. Fawn Lake itself is very quiet and tranquil. Our only real issue was the wifi - the rental was billed as wifi included, but when we arrived, we were told that there was a limit on the amount of data, after which point the wifi would shut down. Given we had 14 people staying at the cottage, the limit wasn't nearly sufficient, and we ended up with no wifi on day 4 of our stay. Given the high-end nature and price of this rental, this needs to be addressed. I literally had to drive into Huntsville to do some work on my laptop, which I should have been able to do from the cottage. Other than that our stay was lovely and the owner was very responsive. Warning though, the bugs (mosquitoes and deer flies) are pretty bad at this specific location.
We recently stayed at this cottage and overall, it was a great place. It definitely can hold a lot of people, although the adult count probably should stay 8 or lower to be comfortable. There are tons of comfortable chairs on the deck, around the fire pit and by the water. The Kayaks were good as were the paddle boards - allowing you to roam around the fairly small lake - doesn't have much boat traffic on it at any given time, which is nice. The lake is extremely shallow and warm and not rocky at all - so great for kids. It's very quiet and peaceful - development along the lake isn't that intense and there are long stretches with no cottages at all.
This also brings one of the downsides - cell reception is lousy - and that's an issue because the included wi-fi is fairly slow, and is capped - a challenge when the place is built for a lot of people - a lot of data is used. Also, the cottage is located off a "use at your own risk" non-maintained road - pay attention for the rock and holes that could cause issues for your vehicle.
For the most part the kitchen is well stocked with the non-food items you need - you really just need to bring up the food and drink.
I found the bugs at this spot to be worse than my typical Muskoka experience - all but one night we were driven in about 30 minutes into the camp fire - even with DEET. For the most part, the bugs weren't a problem during the day.
The games room is of good quality overall, and can help deal with any lousy weather that pops by.
It's not mentioned anywhere that I saw, but the cottage is not air conditioned. Some days this was a pain, others it wasn't. Wouldn't not stay here because of this.
If you need a big cottage with some nice touches, this is a great option that I would seriously consider returning to next time we are headed to Muskoka.

Headed up there on probably the coldest weekend of the year so far! It was awesome! Our party of 16 (we had two extra join us) were comfortable, not under each others feet and it felt like a home away from home. The house is very well equipped (except the can opener which was terrible, we suggest replacing that!), with everything you might need. We did bring up one oversize pot for a chili night and were glad we did as there wasn't one there, but apart from that there was everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed the games room and specifically the projection screen when we spent our nights watching movies (lots there to choose from). All in all a fabulous weekend. Will definitely be looking at this place again..hopefully in the summer when we could enjoy the lake!
