“Beautiful Scenery”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2012

This has got to be one of the most scenic places in the West. The hotel sits in a valley surrounded by the Rocky mountains and in the winter, the snow gives it a fairytale image. The rooms are clean and spacious and have a comfortable bed. Extra blankets and pillows are provided and the resturant serves great food and drink, The staff are pleasant and willing to help with anything. Although a bit expensive it is well worth the price.

This is a dog friendly hotel and even provides a goody bag for the dog.

Room Tip: There does not seem to be a bad room.

I first stayed at the Best Western Valemount for business in 2010 and then again in June 2011 for our honeymoon. The hotel had made such an impression on me during my business trip that I had vowed to go back as soon as I could.

I've stayed in many hotels for work and leisure, all over British Columbia and elsewhere in Canada and the world, so it's taking more and more to get a "wow" from me. This hotel got that "wow" from the moment I walked in. The sitting area off of the lobby is something truly special. Beautiful stone and natural woodwork, vaulted ceilings, and just a great vibe. Even the staircase leading upstairs is beautiful to look at.

During my business trip in 2010, I had the occasion to use the amazing Eagle's View banquet room. Wow. Photos cannot do this room justice. The vaulted ceiling and the extensive windows perfectly frame the nature sitting right outside. In the Spring and Summer, you get to see the beautiful greenery and the stunning mountains. If you're looking for a spectacular place to have a wedding banquet and don't mind a bit of a drive, this is your place. I should also mention that all the staff we had the pleasure of dealing with during our business activities were helpful, professional, and friendly. All of our activities went off without a hitch.

During our honeymoon in June 2011, my initial impression of the Best Western Valemount was confirmed. I had booked a King Jacuzzi room with a mountain view. We arrived very late (almost midnight) because our wedding dinner had run long, but the fatigue was soon forgotten when we saw the spacious room, the cozy Jacuzzi tub for two, the gas fireplace, and the beautiful king bed.

The next morning when we woke up, we were completely dazzled by the view that met our eyes when we opened the door onto the balcony! Mountain view indeed. It exceeded both our expectations completely. We ordered room service and ate at the table by the balcony, with the door wide open, letting the fresh air and sunlight in. Afterward, we basked in the sunlight on the balcony in our complimentary bathrobes, while admiring the mountains and the beautiful grounds surrounding the hotel. (My only want would be for more comfortable/sturdy chairs on the balcony. When they had sat in the hot sun too long, they became very wobbly because the plastic softened.)

The bed was very comfortable and clad in pristine white sheets and duvet, topped off with tons of great pillows. The room itself was very spacious and had a microwave and fridge (as all the rooms do). Everything was well-maintained and very clean.

A lot of people were a bit surprised when I mentioned that we were going to Valemount for our honeymoon. "Why would you choose that hotel in the middle of nowhere?" Here are some great reasons:

1) Valemount is only 30 km from beautiful Mount Robson Provincial Park, which has some of the best hiking in BC (and perhaps even in Canada).

2) Valemount is only 120 km from the city of Jasper and Jasper National Park. You can spend the day hiking in JNP and then finish off your day with a delicious dinner in one of the many superb restaurants in Jasper. Or if hiking isn't your thing, you can spend your day shopping and touring in Jasper too. The drive to Jasper is scenic, framed between world-class views of mountains, rivers and trees. We saw several each of moose, elk, bears, eagles, deer -- you name it.

3) Valemount isn't a tourist trap. The prices are reasonable, the locals are friendly, and the pace of life is relaxed. It's the perfect "home base" for your vacation in the area.

4) Last and certainly not least: The hotel. It's truly one of the most memorable places I've ever stayed at, and we just can't wait until we can go back. We were only able to stay 3 days and we were truly sad that we had to leave so soon. We have so much more exploring to do, and definitely much more relaxing in that Jacuzzi tub!

Oh, and also worth noting is that on the first afternoon of our stay, a staff member came up to deliver a complimentary bottle of wine and a small box of chocolates to help us celebrate our wedding. It was a simple gesture, but it made us feel like guests and not just another folio number.

Regarding the food in the hotel, we had breakfast both in our room and in the restaurant during our stay. The service was fast and friendly and the food was pretty good and well-priced.

Finally, although we didn't avail ourselves of these amenities because of our plans outside of the hotel, I understand from the hotel's website that the Best Western Valemount has a very nice pool with waterslide, hot tub, an exercise room, and other amenities to offer.

Thank you to all the staff at Best Western Valemount. You helped make our honeymoon so memorable and we will be back again soon!

Room Tip: If at all possible, get a room with a mountain view. All the rooms are nice, but the mountain views...

Just stayed here for one night going between the west coat and Edmonton. Broke the journey up beautifully. Food was fabulous. We had a lovely room - spacious with a jetted tub in the room. Lovely mountain views and garden views. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Valemount Best Western for two nights over the New Years holiday. The rooms were very clean and well-maintained and all of the staff that we encountered were extremely friendly. Of particular note for us, however, was the restaurant staff.

Two months ago my wife was diagnosed with celiac disease and we have subsequently spent the last two months nervously navigating and learning about this disease. The learning curve for us for this disease has been ‘vertical’ and as a result we have been extremely nervous about ‘eating out’ as there are so many food preparation variables to consider. Eating out at the Valemount Best Western was the first real test for us and I cannot think of any way that the hotel staff could have helped and supported us more.

Before we arrived, I called the hotel and the extremely helpful staff at the front desk immediately gave me the contact information for the Kitchen Manager. I emailed the manager directly asking for any direction that he could provide that relates to the hotel menu. He immediately responded and gave us exactly the information (and reassurance) that we needed.

While we were eating our first of two meals at the hotel, the restaurant manager came out to meet us at our table to make sure that everything was OK. We were quite taken aback by his level of attention. HIs level of concern and consideration was more that we could have hoped for. This gentleman was/is a true professional. Thanks so much.

We ate at the restaurant for two dinner meals and the waitress that we had for both evenings (the same person) was outstanding. Not only was she friendly and attentive, but she was completely supportive of our concern about celiac friendly menu options. She also consulted with one of her colleagues to provide further insight into the menu and to confirm information that she had given us. Outstanding.

As a concerned husband, I was able to watch my wife, and best friend, enjoy, with peace of mind, one of her first meals ‘out’. What a great first step for us to take and it was so wonderful to have the Valemoiunt Best Western make it that much easier for us.

I only hope that as we continue along our learning path of this curious disease, that the restaurant/food service professionals that we meet along the way are as considerate and caring as those individuals that we met at this hotel. If you ever find yourself lucky enough to visit Valemount, one of the most beautiful areas in British Columbia, indeed most beautiful areas in the world, stay at this hotel. I can say with confidence that you will not be disappointed.

For a stay in Valemount, you can't go wrong with this hotel. Everything you could ask for is right there on site, so if you didn't feel like it, you don't have to leave it at all.

Our room (with jacuzzi) was immaculately clean with a pleasant view of the garden (also so immaculate I thought it might be a golf course...). The restaurant had a great selection of dishes on offer, from light and healthy choices (Thai chicken salad, fish with vegetables etc) to proper meaty fare (the spare ribs are legendary) and the service was just as good.

We managed a dip in the hotel pool, which was compact, but big enough to do a few laps. A water chute is good entertainment for kids while parents can just relax in the hot tub.

Stayed here one night, The hotel is lovely and the staff were very professional. On site restuarant was good. Value for money. Lovely gardens which back onto nature reserve. One of the best hotels of the Best Western chain we have stayed in. We were en route to Vancouver so we only stayed one night.
