The nonchalance with which personnel and management provide a terrible, overpriced service is what infuriates me the most. The so called wireless Internet is a joke, food is greatly overpriced and - above all - the fares are greatly overpriced. It scares a lot potential tourism away; I certainly go to the Sunshine Coast nowhere near as often as I would like because of the ridiculously high ferry fares.

And BC Ferries is a useful necessity for travelling the numerous waterways of BC's very long coastline. They've a lot of potential, moving forward, to create a better service though. Given time, I'm sure they will.
Meanwhile, the basic services are more than adequately met.
Costs for travel could be lower, given how many people use this facility. Perhaps this would require the reservation system to be used more often, whereas now, one can just take a chance lining up to wait.
Waits are always manageable though, as there are cafes and shops at the terminals.
It's not a bad way to travel for residents and visitors, as the scenery makes for a pleasant journey and there are worse places to haul across water!

Dear Chefdino,

Thank you for taking the time to review our service.

Active pass certainly provides beautiful west coast views of beaches and the islands. Sometimes if you are lucky you will see some wildlife including whales, as you mentioned!

We look forward to welcoming you onboard in the future.

The BC Ferries are required to get to and from many islands on BC's west coast. The cost for using the service is high. Company executives earn record high salaries and bonuses, while the cost for the user has never been higher.

Want a hamburger and fires on board? It will cost you around $20. A simple trip with two ppl and their car will cost ~$100 per direction.

BC Ferries is an example of contemporary corporate corruption. The management should all be stuffed in a broken ferry and sent off with the Japanese tide.

In regards to fares, as BC Ferries is contracted by the Province of British Columbia, our fares are regulated by the BC Ferry Commission. For more information and details about our fares and the structure of BC Ferries, I would recommend looking at the BC Ferry Commission website.

We use the Ferries a few times a year and always have a great impression of everything from the online reservation system to the marshalling yard to the load, unload process. Well maintained equipment, well trained staff and yes it is good value. Take your car to the mainland for less than a hundred bucks! That's a deal.
