We stayed one night over the thanksgiving long weekend. I had tried other motels but was told all rooms were full so in desperation I called the travellers rest. I say that because I know how old this motel is I used to rent a room from them over 30 years ago and driving past it over the years I noticed the curtains always looked the same.
Upon arrival I checked in, the manager seemed nice so I paid and he gave me the key and instructions where we could park. We were running tight for time as we had a wedding to attend so quickly we opened the door, my husband and I were aghast the room tweaked of mildew, we heard a loud stereo playing and suddenly there was a strange man at our door. He seemed intoxicated, said he hoped he was going to be alone and he wanted to know if his music was too loud. My husband told him it was like he was partying in our room so after a short discussion he left telling my husband that there would be a cold one in his fridge when we got back. We quickly got dressed for wedding and put most of our belongings back into our vehicle. We did not shower because there was mould in the bathtub under the plastic mat that you could see through. The corners around tub were either extremely dirty or mouldy as well but we did not investigate further. We went in Salmon Arm and bought a can of febreeze to spray the room because of the stank. When we returned to room we immediately sprayed the room to make the room tolerable. We could hear the neighbours tv so instead of knocking on his door we turned on the tv in out room. It was an old tv but it worked. The chair in the room was the same fabric from when I lived there over 30 years ago, as was the curtains, the bedspread. The table beside the bed had so many cigarette burns on it the entire front edge was one burn beside another all along it. The carpet had marks on it like pee stains from maybe a pet? The bathroom light that was on the outside wall by the closet rod did not work at all, someone had installed a light right above the door which would not have been bad but the door had a window so the light stayed on all night. Because the room stunk so badly we were hesitant to use the bed but we knew we needed rest before our long drive home the following day, so we sprayed more febreeze hoping if it smelt better we might rest. The chain lock on the door was broken so we did not feel secure. I tried to use wifi but no network was detected on my mini ipad. The final straw was when I tried to take my nightly medications there was not a cup or glass in the room. Since it was late there was no light on in the office so I had to improvise a container to get a drink of water. There was a coffee pot, coffee, and fixings for morning but nothing to drink out of. I tried to bring my concerns to the manager when I returned my key in the morning but the sign on door said open but door was locked! This motel needs to have major work done , the windows and walls were wet in the morning from condensation. I agree with others this motel needs to be inspected and improved or condemned.

Room Tip: Do not stay at this motel, if you do before you pay have manager come to your room to inspect it...

I was very happy with the service and the room, it a good place to stay, there's a beach 2 min from the motel and also a golf course across the street. I will come back again.theres also a great corner store 2mins away with great prices and liquor. This motel is better than most motels that I've stayed at.

This place is the last motel headed East toward Alberta so rather than head back into Salmon Arm we decided to stay. One of the notes posted to the office door said knock on room #9 - a very messy, smokey room with a DRUNK guest who says he is the new manager. He took us inside the office, behind the counter in the laundry room! and wanted us to leave our credit card number with him, NOT! We gave him cash! Isn't there a law about the type of people who collect CC numbers?!!

This is the most run-down, poorly maintained accommodation I have ever seen and should be condemned by the city! Apparently the city of Salmon Arm doesn't respect it's tourists too much! There is mouse feces in the utensil drawer, water problems, mushrooms and the walls are paper-thin! Poor Business Practices!Disgusting!

Room tip: Do yourself a favor and stay!

This is the worst place I have ever stayed under no circumstance will they give your money back includeing bugs in the room illegal and unsafe kitchenetts a raw sewage pipe burst the smell was awful and there was no water for over 1 day so no showers or toilet flushing fungus was growing in the bathroom its right on the highway so its very loud both adults and childeren were pepper sprayed do to one unsatisfied man not being given his money back over the sewage incident. This hotel is awful and about a 5 min drive away from salmon arm it is not the cheapest place to stay even though they say it is.. In two weeks my beding and towels which were soaked after 1 day and would not dry due to the hummidity and the inabillity to leave the door open due to noise bugs and smell were changed only once,, and only at my request...Which took 7 days because the manager is lazy (has notes in the kitchen saying if you don't wash the dishes you use you'll be charged for excessive clean up) there was no one in office, nor would anyone answer any of the phone #s posted of which most did not work. Just do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this place as possible. If I could rate this place any lower I would !!!

I stayed at the Traveller's Rest Motel on Aug 29, 2013 and found the experience quite dissatisfying. Although it is a motel and most people would say "you get what you pay for," I have to say that Ive stayed at better ones that get 5 stars.

Now, the positive feedback:

-Friendly manager who showed me the couple of rooms available, which looked fine at a glance

Improvements:

-CLEANLINESS: Bed shoes had hairs and furniture was dusty, thus, sheets need to be changed every time the room is rented and furniture needs to be dusted here in then

Lastly, although they advertise "free internet," this one didn't work. I could probably let this one slip since you are in a mountainous zone.

Room tip: Ask manager to show you the room and check for things like clean bed sheets
