As there was too much snow, the entire park was closed at the end of May. The visitor's center however was very nice, informative and an very nice ranger answered all of our questions. The views of the snowy mountains was the nicest from the parking lot of the visitor's center.

In October, many of the hiking trails including the walks along various boardwalks in Glacier National Park, along the Trans-Canada Highway, were already closed. We've done these in the past during summer season and they are very scenic and beautiful. The drive through the park is very pretty.

We only got as far as Lake McDonald because they had 22 inches of snow at the higher elevations the week before so rather than plow they decided to close the roads a few weeks early . We could drive up to a trail but than it was closed for maintenance. Even the visitor center and bathrooms were closed. Very disappointed.

Lake Macdonald is spectacular and you could hike a little along the river.

Travelling from Kamloops to Golden we spent too long at Revelstone National Park and we were therefore unable to do a hike in Glacier. But having driven through it I really want to go back and hike a few trails. No matter how much time you allow then you never have enough. I think on my next trip I will keep away from the tourist spots and head to Glacier and Revelstone and enjoy the beauty of these locations.
