For our family of 4 adults, we got the Arbutus, the smallest kind of cottage. It has a well-equipped kitchen, a BBQ, and wonderful patio set. At night, it was great to sit outside to star-gaze. I find that the mattresses in the cottage, including the sofa bed, are way too soft. I had back pain after sleeping on them. I guess this is really personal preference. Another draw back of the cottage is that it only has 1 bathroom. It was quite inconvenient for the 4 of us. Otherwise, it's a nice place and comfortable place to stay. It's also very close to downtown Parksville, where the restaurants and grocery stores are.

This is our second year out here and have even asked for the same cottage we had last year. The place is fairly new so everything is clean and modern. It is fairly close to Rathtrevor beach which is a great place for kids to place as you can literally walk 1km into the ocean during low tide, so lots to explore and many sea creatures to play with. Lots to do in the area as there's mini-golf, bumper boats, lots of great trails and quaint little stores and shops. The price is decent, but don't expect to be waited on hand and foot as some reviewers have expected, this is a great family vacationing spot, in fact we've always had 3 other families here with us and the kids have a blast. Will be coming back for years to come...

Super nice cottages. And a real bonus to be able to bring a pet. I really studied all the various places that I would be able to take my dog with me, and this was by far the nicest place to go. (my lab had been sick with a stomach ulcer and I wanted to keep her with us). The cottages are close together but offered enough privacy and very clean, modern, very well equipped.
I do think the check out time of 11am with having to clean dishes, and strip the beds makes things a bit tight; a 12 noon check out time would have been a lot nicer.
Super nice pool on sight, as well as fun mini golf course. A fantastic sushi place with a friendly lady running it.
It isn't beach front...the beach is a good 15 minute walk away, but still for a family friendly, very nice 'own' cottage vacation, this is great!

From the moment we made our first telephone call to Oceanside Village Resort, we were impressed with the friendly and helpful service that Kathy provided. Arriving in our cottage/cabin, we were delighted by the wonderful cozy, clean and homey feel of our vacation home. Tastefully decorated with up-to-date furnishings, we were quickly "at home" - comfortable and cozy. We were impressed with the number of towels provided including beach/pool towels. While the kitchen is stocked with basic pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, salt and pepper etc., don't forget to bring your own spices, oil, food wraps, etc. Laundry detergent was not provided, so be sure to bring your own if you need to launder your clothes.

We were looking for much-needed rest and relaxation and that's exactly what we received. We were so comfortable and relaxed that we decided to stay longer than the original week we had planned.

The best part of Oceanside Village Resort for us was that not only did we have a beautiful cabin to stay in but also that our aging dog who can no longer be left behind on our holidays was welcome too.

We were reluctant to leave our little piece of paradise but thankful we discovered this gem of a pet friendly vacation home rental resort in Parksville. (none of the other resorts are pet friendly!)

Thanks Oceanside Village Resort - we look forward to our return (SOON!)

The staff was welcoming and very helpful and the check-in was a breeze, the cottage exceeded our expectations in every way, To say it was well equiped would be an understatement as there was even an umbrella in case of rain. The surroundings are nicely landscaped and quite quiet . The recreation bldg. is maintained to an above average standard and well equiped . The centre of town and its shopping and dining facilities and one of the islands finest beaches only 5 minutes away .
