Lucky enough to see mum and 3yr old cubs (grizzlies)on the shore as we approached the Homalco first nation land. There were 3 boats form Campbell River Tours totalling approx 36 people and we were put onto 2 buses and travelled up to the main camp area for our "induction and a safety briefing". After this we went to have a mother look at the original bears, watching cubs play fighting was great. Moving on we saw another mum with 2 cubs (less than 1 yr old) They were aware we were watching them eat and play jn the water but did not seem bothered. Then further around we saw 2 separate single grizzlies who the guides felt were males about 5yrs old. Viewings varied form regual sites where there were viewing platforms covered and protected form bear access to just stopping and getting off the bus if a guide saw a bear. On one of these occasions we were watching an adult grizzly and when he started to walk towards us we were calmly, quietly and safely ushered back onto the bus by the guides who at all times were alert and watching around us armed with bear spray. No guests were allowed off the bus until, a good recki had been done by the Homalco and CRT guides. Felt very safe but also felt as though it was unique experience not shared with 30+ other people. This was a most exceptional trip and we were very lucky. Great information form Homalco people who made us feel very welcome during our visit which lasted approx 3 hours but seemed to fly by.

Everything about this tour seriously surpassed expectations.
We went on a Grizzly Tour which was ran between Discovery Marine Tours and Homalco Tours, and these guys were amazing.
The scenery of the location where you visit is something on its own. It's worth going just for that. But obviously everyone wants to see the Grizzlys. We were incredibly fortunate and saw well over 15 Grizzlys 3 of them being mums with cubs. The guys who run these tours are incredibly knowledgable of the area and the bears, they are also really humorous which makes the tour a lovely environment. Once we spotted the bears and the guides had scouted the area to check it was safe they stepped back and allowed us to appreciate the bears in their natural habitat.
It is an experience I won't ever forget.
Thank-you so much for allowing us a glimpse into your incredible world!

We had a wonderful day grizzly bear viewing at the Homalco site. The guides were very friendly and professional. It was all very informative and well-organised. We had some amazing grizzly bear viewings and the overall atmosphere was very positive.
Apart from the bears itself, the country is amazingly beautiful with the river winding through the rain forest with a dramatic backdropping of snow capped mountains.
A wonderful day!

Our Grizzly Adventure with our Homalco guides, Marcellus and William, was an amazing adventure! Getting to see grizzlies in their natural habitats is an experience we'll never forget. Our Homalco guides were VERY respectful of the grizzlies and at the same time were VERY careful to make us humans safe. The viewing towers are well constructed, safe and located in great viewing areas. The buses, bathroom and picnic facilities were clean and comfortable. Marcellus and William were friendly, kind and knowledgeable. Thank you for the experience of a lifetime!

The wife and I spent over 3 hours with the Homalco guides, it was a great day for seeing grizzly bears feeding on salmon. The first viewing area had 5 bears. Next we had a sow with 2 young cubs they look like little stuffed animals. We highly recommend any tour that joins you with this First Nation tour.
