“First time in Chobbs Barn”
Reviewed 25 March 2010

A regular guest of Camomile Cottage B&B next door we decided to try out the newly renovated barn with our three-month old son. The barn proved to be everything we were looking for - a place of quiet and serenity to simply kick back and relax in. The space is realy well designed with high quality fixtures and a real sense of privacy. Underfloor heating and a large wetroom felt like real luxeries - I think I had about 3 showers a day just to enjoy the space. Apparently there is high-speed internet but all we wanted to do was sit and watch the birds and hares outsdie the huge french windows as the sun rose and set over the fields out the back. Aly and Tim are great at recommending places to go including a fabulous deli in Diss and some great local pubs and restuarants. We left after three nights thoroughly relaxed and wanting to return as soon as possible.

We were looking for a getaway to relax and we were not dissapointed. Aly and Tim run a wonderfull B&B and self catering barn. We stayed in the barn on self catering basis. It has a lovely location and is decorated and fitted to an outstanding standard. Luxury is the order with high quality fixtures and fittings complimented by top notch service from Aly. Nothing is too much trouble and if you need anything you just just have ask. There are some outstanding places to eat within a short drive and I think I can honestly say that the meal we had at the Fox and Goose in Fressingfield was possibly the best we have ever tasted. Booking is essential. All in all Chobbs Barn is an outstanding place to get away from it all providing a 5 star service to match the 5 star surroundings. We will be returning without a doubt.

Having just returned from our second stay at Camomile Cottage I can say without a doubt this place will never disappoint. We are getting married at nearby Yaxley Hall and picked Camomile cottage for a weekend break whilst visiting the venue.

From the moment we arrived Aly and Tim made the stay more like a weekend with friends than a night in a B&B. The warm welcome accompanied by banana and chocolate cake was an absolute treat and the perfect way to start our break. Little did we know it was only going to get better! The quirky bedrooms are beautifully appointed, and no detail is missed, from the luxurious bed linen, the toiletres in the bathroom and even the bag of truffle chocolates to nibble on (if there were any room after the cake!)

You have the roam of the cottage during your stay with a comfortable lounge, fully stocked kitchen and beautiful breakfast room/conservatory which was to host the most divine breakfast the following morning. Nothing was too much trouble and Aly even bought up tea and coffee to have whilst getting ready for breakfast!

Our second stay only confirmed what a truly unique place this is. We left today relaxed and refreshed....already planning our return for our wedding.

We stayed here 2 nights in July 2008 as we were getting married locally at Yaxley Hall. The cottage and garden are beautiful, even more beautiful in reality that the pictures on the website and brochure. We were served wonderful and generous breakfasts in the delightful Garden Room. On offer are luxury yoghurts, fresh fruits, cereals and a selection of cooked breakfasts, you are spoilt for choice. The guest accommodation is completely segregated from the owner's residence and very private, we were fortunate to be on our own, as there weren't guests in the second bedroom.

There are home bakes on offer, we were made welcome with a pot of tea and home made cookies on arrival and we had home baked banana bread with breakfast. The corn bread from the local bakery, which was served at breakfast, was so light and delicious we bought two loaves to take home with us. There's also a kitchen area stocked with teas and coffee that you are welcome to use.

The cottage is luxuriously appointed, the floors upstairs are sloping and the bathroom compact, but it's what you'd expect from a cottage, it all adds to the ambience. The furnishings and decor are fabulous it's like staying in a 'Homes & Gardens' glossy magazine feature.

We stayed 2 nights in the Oak Room in what was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in, "even better than ours at home" remarked my husband; that's praise indeed!

Ali our hostess couldn't have been more accommodating and welcoming, she even packaged my bouquet in a little bag with water and damp tissue, tied with string for our journey home.

Eye is a beautiful little town we hope to return to explore more widely especially as this place now has very special memories for us.
