Auberge du P'tit Train du Nord (the correct spelling) is a 19 room Auberge on a linear trail that extends from Montreal into the Laurentian Mountains. It is situated in a residential section in the southern portion of Sainte-Adèle. Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by Nicolas the manager who gave us a quick tour. He proved to be a good source of information as his recommendations for dining (Chez Milot) and shopping (a glass show in Prevost) kept the womenfolk happy.
We had reserved two rooms: Mont-Laurier, a junior suite; and Bellerive, a regular double room that connected to Mont-Laurier. Traveling with my wife and two young ladies it proved to be the perfect arrangement (two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a shared living room in the middle). We found the rooms to be comfortable and clean with a view of the linear trail, petanque courts and the former train station that now serves as bicycle retail/rental shop and cafe.
The auberge served a continental breakfast that included breads, croissants, coffee, OJ and cheese et cetera. We found it quite enjoyable and satisfying.
Also upon Nicolas' suggestion we rented bicycles and rode north on the P'tit Train du Nord linear trail past streams, rapids, lovely vacation properties and serene lakes. The slight grade (<3%) northward allowed us to mostly coast back to our station.
We whole-heartedly recommend Auberge du P'tit Train du Nord as a great base to explore the mountainous area north of Montreal. It is well situated for a cycling vacation and we will not hesitate to stay again in the future. It is not the Ritz-Carlton, but we were not looking for that anyway.
