As a proud Canadian, my husband and I were delighted to bring 5 Australian family members to the Eastern Townships last July. Not having booked any accommodation in advance, we thought wise to stop by the Tourism Bureau near Granby to get some advice and possibly make a booking. The girl there was most helpful but unfortunately put us on to the worst accommodation we have ever experienced! We choose this hotel based on the agent's recommendation and especially for the fact that it had an outdoor spa (jacuzzi). The hotel is located very close to autoroute 10 so is a little noisy at times. The rates are pricy for what you get- a unit with the oldest appliances I have seen since my grandmother's house back in the 80's!
When we went down to reception to ask for the key to the jacuzzi, there was no one there! We saw a phone and a number to call for assistance. The lady that answered (Heidi is her name) mentionned she was busy doing some washing (!!!) and rudely said that she would be down in a minute with the key. When we asked for extra towels (we only had one each in our room), Heidi responded that the hotel did not give out extra towels for the spa and that we would need to use the ones from our room! When we got to the jacuzzi, the water was cold! We abandoned the the idea of using the jacuzzi and returned to reception to complain. Heidi's response was to blame the cold water on previous patrons and did nothing to rectify the situation (didn't even come down to see!). The cherry on the top was when one person in our party opened up the sofa bed (this was her bed for the night), and saw a huge brown stain on BOTH the mattress and the mattress protector! Again, we called Heidi who said she was in the bathtub (what???) and would HAVE to get out, get dressed and come and see. What the heck is wrong with this person?
The next day we complained to the owner who apologized for her staff (and said she had warned her that if she had one more complaint she would lose her job) and mentionned that out of 5 comments on Trip Advisor 4 were good. And that's good enough in your books because....? This being said, she did nothing to refund us even a portion of our stay! Three words for travelers: AVOID THIS PLACE!

Room Tip: Terrible in every possible way!

Auberge du Mont Orford is located at the base of ...well, Mont Orford - a popular ski destination in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. That's why I refer to it as an "off season deal" for summertime travellers. The hotel seems ideal for skiiers, and its comfortable condominium-style units are set up accordingly. Lots of ski storage, a cozy fireplace, and a functional kitchen are all included in the cost. It's pretty clear that this place was originally intended to cater to wintertime guests. It is located near to the skiing, but not right in the town of Magog, where summertime visitors congregate to visit the tourist-y shops or the waterfront along Lake Magog. Maybe that explains the fact that we could book a suite at Auberge du Mont Orford for less than $100.00 per night, only a couple of days before the Canada Day (July 1) weekend. We visited with our boisterous three-year-old son, and were very pleased. The staff was friendly and helpful both when I booked the accomodations and when we checked in. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment - you really could make a meal there. We didn't avail of the hot tub, which is located in a separate building on the hotel grounds, but our little boy made good use of the children's play structure. There is a restaurant within the hotel but it is apparently under separate management. It was, however, a nice place to eat, with good food, sizeable portions and friendly service at a fair price. You can bring your own wine, and as far as we could tell no "corkage fee" is charged. All in all, an unpresumptuous, friendly and comfortable place to stay at a very reasonable price - especially in the summer!

Room Tip: All suites are the same, but ask for a room on the back, facing the mountain.

We recently travelled to Eastern Townships for our 4th ski trip . The price and location combined with the most amazing staff made this condo number one in the area. Heidi and Sylvie go out of their way to make your stay perfect. they were so helpful .the unit is a home away from home. Free internet and the separate bedroom was perfect. The kitchen had everything needed. the unit was spacious and the view from our window was beautiful. It was quiet and super clean. the furnishings were lovely from bedding to furniture and artwork. So happy we decided to choose this Auberge. Keep up the awesome work Heidi and Sylvie!!

Our family 1/2 from Toronto area and 1/2 from Montreal visited the Eastern Townships in July to visit another relative and to have a little vacation together. We were very impressed with the rooms at Auberge Mont Orford! We had 4 rooms and everyone was surprised at how functional they were. A private bedroom with A/C unit, a small full kitchen, including stove, microwave, diswasher, fridge and coffee maker! There were dishes and pans, very nice to have your breakfast in the morning. The balcony was great, my husband and I were in the back of the building and sat outside with our coffees, it was nice and quiet. There is a hot tub in a cedar house, a games room/tv room and small gym. The only complaint we had was there was no swimming pool and not much to do for those that decided to stay at the hotel and not join the golfers or the spa goers! The restaurant that is a separate business attached to the hotel is convenient but only opens at 5 PM so there is no food available at the hotel until them. Oh... one more thing, the mattresses were so comfortable and I usually am the one complaining about the mattresses! The price is also fantastic at $89.00 per night!!
