“Spring-like skiing at Tremblant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2012

Location: Mt Tremblant is located about 125km north of Montreal. It's size and location near Monteal makes it a favourite destination for recreation so it can get quite crowded.
Logistics: If one is to drive in and ski for the day, you will have to appreciate that there is a considerable distance between the parking lots 2 and 3 and the base. There is a bus that is free to skiers who park (for free) in these lots, but you are dragging a lot of equipment to the base. From parking lot 2 and 3, due to the distance, you can not walk carrying your gear. Even in lot 1, there is quite a bit of walking to get to the lift.
Sk Lifts: I have been told that it is not unusal during a busy day that skiers might have to wait one hour to get onto the gondola from the base of the mountain to get to the peak. There is only one main lift to the very top at the village side. Once at the top and skiers disperse, there is no need to ski right to the bottom again because skiers can find a lift from mid-mountain to the peak again. You are recommended to go early to avoid the initial lines at the gondola.
Faciliites: We ate at the top of the peak. There is a two level facility at the very peak. At the top is a large cafeteria. At the lower level is a smaller cafeteria that does not have all of the hot options and it has fewer tables. At the lower level, they will tolerate patrons bringing a bagged lunch - but apparently not on the upper floor. Expect that food costs are higher because you are a captive customer. Three orders of poutine and one coke cost about $23.
Lockers: We found some lockers at the base of the mountain in a coffee shop near the place that sells tickets on the village side facing the gondola. There are also some lockers at the lodge at the peak. Note that the mountain closes promptly and if you have your stuff in a locker, the locker facility might close if you do not get to it. To illustrate, the coffee shop locks its doors at 4PM. If your stuff is in their public locker, you might be out of luck.
Trails: With children, we stayed mostly on the greens (and some blues). The benefit of Tremblant greens is the duration of the run. The trails are long and have varying terrain which makes it more interesting and comes with a good view. Note that with the deteriorting snow, some parts of the green trails towards the bottom flatten out so if you loose your momentum, you will get stuck having to shuffle along.
Overall: The size of the mountain itself is the attraction. We appreciated the varying trails and their length. There is enough ski options at Tremblant to merit a return visit. Next time we want to explore the village and a few more trails.

“Great skiing and wonderful village”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2012

We took our two kids (ages 5 and 2) to Mt. Tremblant for skiing this past March Break. Everyone had a great time! There is terrain for all levels of skiers, and the resort offers many options for food--many in the village, and some up top in the lodges. The restaurants in the village are on the pricier side though. My 5-year old declared Le Shack as her most favourite restaurant. The daycare facility at Tremblant is also fantastic! The staff there are extremely friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Remember to book in advance, as they do have limited spaces available each day. Parking at the resort is not a problem, whether you get into P1 (the one closest to the base) or not, because they run a fantastic shuttle bus service that is free :)

And on the one day we didn't ski, we also enjoyed a few hours at the aqua centre, which is pay per use. Again, there's an area for toddlers, a larger pool with bridges, "rocks" to dive from, a swinging rope to jump off, slides, and two hot tubs--one indoor, and one outdoor that is just for adults.

Great service and great skiing! Very friendly locals and awesome village (not to be confused with the resort). Great ski shops - especially those with dogs!

“Tips!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 March 2012

Get the Costco deal on tickets and rentals!

Be aware that otherwise, Intrawest prices are horribly high.e.g in the cafe-restaurants two diet- Cokes, $7.70 after taxes! I kid you not. Gouging!

Eat in St Jovite, many fine restaurants as well as decent family places and ten minutes drive only.
