Beach Pea Kitchen & Bar
Ranked #17 of 49 Restaurants in Lunenburg
Description: The Beach Pea provides a perfect setting to enjoy a Mediterranean-inspired meal or some summery drinks on a patio. Like the restaurant’s namesake, a pea shoot whose tendrils sprout and flower next to the ocean, the Beach Pea is nestled above the Lunenburg harbour, providing an incredible view. Its interior is white, light, and airy, and will leave you feeling serene and satisfied. The Beach Pea’s menu, designed by award-winning chef Martin Salvador Ruiz, draws inspiration from the freshest local seafood as well as Mediterranean flavours spanning from Spain to North Africa. Saffron-infused seafood stew coexists alongside Nova Scotian classics, like lobster rolls and fish chowder, whose ingredients are sourced from local fishermen. Market-fresh fruits and vegetables feature in every dish, and appear even in drinks, like the fruity summer bourbon or the herbal green lantern. Come take a seat by the water, no reservation required, and let our friendly servers take care of you.

We hadn't plan to eat dinner here but wish we had! Great environment with lots of high top seating and high ceilings. Bright and charming modern decor. Menu was inviting. Drinks were hand crafted at the small bar. We thoroughly enjoyed are cocktails and would love to return for dinner on another visit.

We happened to mention to the Australian bartender where we were going next. Imagine our surprise when, 30 minutes later, the same bartender walked into the restaurant we went to after leaving the Beach Pea with the purse my wife left behind! Would have been really easy for him to have kept the cash. You don’t encounter that kind of honesty very often. I went back and gave him a cash reward, which he clandestinely brought back and gave to our waiter, who presented it to us as we were about to leave. Honest and stubborn..,

We arrived just 30 minutes before closing and were warmly greeted by staff. Place was empty yet we did not feel rushed. Wine suggestions were informed and appreciated BUT MOSTLY we both loved the fresh Haddock cooked to perfection. We have enthusiastically recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning.

Ten days into our vacation, I was craving something other than fish/shellfish. I ordered the Kofta Burger and was not disappointed. What a wonderfully complex combination of flavors. A bright cheerful dining room, good local beer and great service from our waitress made it an experience worth repeating.

Sitting on the outdoor balcony overlooking the Lunenburg harbor sunset is exceptional in itself. Add top notch service, (loved Rob) beautifully prepared dishes with fresh ingredients and inspired flavors and you have a perfect evening. We dined here many a night after trying a few of the other options in town. Oyster house, grand banker, Rimms, Salt shaker, and a truly silly night at same owners Fluer de sel. Entrees of Duck, Lamb, Halibut, Seafood Stew, Pasta Sepia all devine. This is the rock star of Lunenburg.
