I travel Vancouver Island a lot and was looking forward to the Microtel opening to have a new option. It’s perfect for business travellers! Clean, modern, spacious and the wifi worked really well. I found the bed really comfortable. You can hear some noise from outside the hallways but it’s like any other hotel. There’s complimentary breakfast but it was so-so however it’s FREE, with warm and cold options to choose from. There’s no restaurant on the property but there was chilli for dinner, I just drove into Ladysmith to eat.Plenty of free parking outside and it’s right off the highway. Will definitely go back!

We visited this hotel literally within days of opening and found it absolutely marvelous. The design is ultra modern, the rooms are supremely well equipped, spotlessly clean, and extremely high tech and comfortable, the staff was AAAAAAAMAZINGLY professional and friendly (even through some to-be-expected teething pains), the pool area is wonderful and lots of fun with a great slide, there is ample parking, it's right off the TCH a couple of kilometers up the road from Ladysmith, and the breakfast is ample and among the best I've had lately. The consistency of the eggs is a bit on the plastic side, but there are lots of other delicious items, including very fresh bakery goodies to pile on your breakfast plate. They even have a section over by the laundry and ice machine with game consoles to play! Now that's something you don't see in every hotel!

The only real problem with this place is that it's a nightmare to sleep in! The tissue-thin walls transmit every sound from the next rooms, and the rooms with connecting doors are completely impossible to sleep in as you will literally hear the people next door scratching themselves. I tried to block the sound with towels at the base of the door with no luck. Unless you're deaf or have excellent earplugs, you're going to get next to no sleep. Whoever designed this building went ultracheap on the inter-room sound deadening and they have effectively ruined the entire hotel. That's a real shame as the rest of the hotel experience was superb!

Room Tip: Don't come if you actually want to SLEEP!

Thank you for taking the time to comment on our very new hotel. I am very happy that you enjoyed the positive parts of the hotel as you described.
I am of course very sorry that your sleep was not great and thankful you took the time to let us know. I will be reviewing your comments with the construction team to look at the possibility of putting some sound proofing between the connecting doors.

Kind regards

Peter Watts - General Manager
