This is the first time back at Taboo in a few years and we went as a family for Mother's Day. We had a fabulous time, the food was amazing and fresh and the staff were wonderful. We were ever so happy to see Chef Rachel in charge and creating amazing dishes for us try. Everything was delicious and her Chai Creme Brulet was absolutely georgous. Then you get the view of the lake and the islands, doesn't get better than that! See you soon!

I've been to the Boathouse before it was JUST ok nothing memorable very Pub food!

The prices are very high...on new menue with new chef...I guess everyone on Muskoka is rich and can afford to eat out a lot!

Why don't reputable resorts or restaurants make yummy fresh chicken burgers that people could enjoy! Lots and lots of people don't eat red meat anymore! Or some amazing Bison burgers! What about great fish tacos not deep fried...people don't want all that breaded greasy flavours!!!

Pinterest offers so many healthy fun choices of different ideas to offer your guests....we just want yummy healthy affordable food! Feels like your offering same old same old!

Change it up ......am noticing lots of boomers eat at home more because we can make yummy dishes that are healthy....and just more value for your money...and drinks are cheaper..

Lots of Gourmet cooking groups popping up ....because it's more creative and cheaper and affordable!

Nice View though

Rannadanna53,

Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts about our 2017 menu. We are very excited to be opening back up for the season on Friday, May 5th. This year, under the direction of our new Executive Chef, the focus was to use as many locally sourced, fresh and seasonal ingredients as possible, and to reassert Taboo Muskoka as one of the top culinary destinations in the region. You will notice on both the Lunch and Dinner menus we have included a wide variety of main dishes, limiting the amount of fried items to two, with pricing ranging from $12 to $35, including a fresh marinated grilled chicken sandwich along with many other healthy options. Not only have we 'renovated' our menus, we have added a brand new bar with a robust cocktail list for our guests to enjoy. For those looking for a unique lake side dining experience we highly encourage you to experience the 'new' Boathouse for yourself. Thanks again for posting your thoughts hopefully you will give us another chance this season.

The restaurant at Taboo Resort, formerly Muskoka Sands Inn, is in a great location but the food isn't great, the service tends to be snobby, and the prices are way too high. What are you paying for: the view?

We have had several meals at the Taboo resort restaurant. They are kind of hit or miss. The meals can be tasty, the atmosphere can be nice (on a quiet day) but often times it feels understaffed. The service is just meh.

We tried dinner one evening. My husband's striploin had little flavour. If he had known the "greens" (kale and zucchini) were so similar to the accompanying salad, he would have made another selection. Thank goodness there were toppings on the boathouse burger (which 2 of us had), because that was pretty dull as well. The garlic aioli really livened it up. One of our friends had the shrimp po-boy, and thought it was okay.
We brought back to our unit the chocolate mousse cake, and it was definitely not worth the $10 for the sliver that we got.
We are wondering if the chef had left for the season, and we had a replacement?
Nevertheless, we came back for breakfast because of the convenience. Our friend ordered the omelet, and the server indicated that she could have as many choices as wanted for the fillings. After choosing around 5 (including the special request for extra mushrooms), when it came to the table, it was very thin (not fluffy like we are used to) and the mushrooms were definitely not prominent. Our friend had the granola, which was okay; I had the eggs benedict with the smoked trout, which was recommended the evening before by our server. What a disappointment!! I couldn't figure out where the hollandaise sauce was, asked for more, and when it was specially made and brought to the table, it just looked like clarified butter. This is not the creamy hollandaise sauce that I am used to.
The only thing this place had going for it was the view.
