This is a great little place to stop for lunch dinner or even breakfast! The owner Barbara is super friendly and a very hard worker as she is also the Chef!!! Clean, good coffee, and friendly staff. The food was good, very reasonably priced and fast! Come and enjoy!

We walked into Bethune's Bistro on a Sunday afternoon thinking that we'd grab a quick bite to eat before driving to Bracebridge for the rest of the day. With speed in mind, we ordered a club sandwich and a salad -- no cooking required! Our server notified us upon sitting down that there was a large group sitting in the other room and that our order might take "a little longer" than normal. We thought, fine, we're already here, we can wait an extra 10 minutes for food.

We waited a FULL HOUR for our meals and even then, it was clear that our food wasn't near ready. Other customers in the restaurant who had been waiting as long as us hadn't received their orders, either. We received very little in the way of updates from our servers, and eventually just left without eating, a cup of coffee later. Other customers left at the same time. We went across the road, incredibly irritated, and got a slice of pizza from Pizza Pizza.

It's flabbergasting to us what took this kitchen so long to prepare two items that required no cooking -- a sandwich and salad. Needless to say, we cannot recommend it to anyone. The restaurant itself is a sad affair, a dimly-lit interior with fake potted plants and faded vinyl album covers sticky-tacked to the wall. The menu is plain and more evocative of a greasy spoon diner than a "bistro" as their name implies.

We felt bad for the servers, who were doing their best to deal with an unacceptable situation in the kitchen. This is not a sustainable model for a restaurant and the kitchen needs to get it into gear if this place is to redeem itself at all.

This new restaurant just opened a few months ago so we gave it a try for their all day breakfast. Simply stated it was wonderful. Quick pleasant service good tasting food exactly what we expected. How nice was that. When the place got busy even the kitchen staff came out to assist in getting the food out hot and quick.
We have been back several times now and everything we tried has been great. The prices are fair and reasonable. The 5 Oz halibut with fresh cut fries was as good as I have ever had anywhere.
You must try this restaurant if you enjoy simple food prepared quickly and priced right!!!
