“Not worth the price”
Reviewed 31 July 2011

Where can I begin. Im sure there are better rooms to be had here, but we certainly didnt get one. Paid extra for another person, and there wasnt enough in the room for everyone. Beds are old and uncomfortable. Surrounding area is nice with some views, but this place could use a major overhaul. Better places up the road in Granby to stay at.

This hotel is fairly nice but somewhat pricey. The hotel was empty and we still got a room overseeing the parkinglot for the ski center.

We were told there were nature trails outside the hotel bystaff. We only wanted to walk a mile or two and we never actually reached trails in the woods before turning back they were so far away.

Stayed here for 2 nights for a business meeting. Overall very nice, but not quite as amazing as it sounded. We were there in the off season (not summer, but not winter for skiing). There's skiing directly across from the hotel which is probably great in winter. The grounds of the hotel are REALLY nice and were pretty, even though we didn't get to use them. There's a golf course down the street (you pass it on the way to the hotel). I think in summer it would be a nice place for hiking or just relaxing.

Rooms: rooms are fairly basic compared to what I expected. Not old or worn, but just basic. Plenty of space and a sofa, but old CRT TV and generally nothing special. Good internet (free).

Bed: I had to separate the bed from the room because the bed was great! I really love my bed at home, but this was pretty close. Nice sheets, pillow, and comforter.

Bathroom: fairly small with quite small (and old) vanity. Everything worked and was clean, but showing its age. Style was very industrial.

Breakfast: Our rate included breakfast and it was great! Juices, fresh fruits, great baked goods, cereals, hot items. I can't imagine what else you'd want and the quality was much better than typical buffets.

Exercise room: pretty good with a few machines and TV (just 1). Indoor pool and hot tub next to it. There's also an outdoor pool, but it was closed when I was there.

Common areas: very nice and clean. No complaints at all. See comments above.

Stayed at the Chateau when I took the kids skiing over the family day weekend. The front desk staff was pleasant and competent in English. We were able to secure discount tickets to Bromont where we skied one night (fantastic). The ski storage area was out of the way and not heated so we left the ski gear in the car (took the boots in to dry). The shuttle trip to Bromont took literally 5 minutes - the hotel is almost at the foot of the mountain.

The rooms were ok but not really what you would expect for a 4 star hotel. Definitely a bit dated and fairly small. I asked for a quiet room and we were given a room at the end of a hallway and it was fine other than some noise from the room upstairs (fortunately not too late). The room did not look anything like those shown on the website - those must be the executive rooms. Wireless Internet was ok.

The high point for the kids was the outdoor hottubs. We sat in them at night (-20 weather) and watched the night skiing at Bromont. The kids loved it - probably the high point of their stay. There is also an indoor hot tub and a pool (pool is oddly located in the open on the main floor). The restaurant was too expensive so we drove into town to eat.

Other than the one night at Bromont we skied at Mont Sutton which was about a 30 minute drive away.

Room Tip: get on top floor

We went to Bromont for some sightseeing and skiing for March break. Due to the Auberge undergoing reno's we were offered the Chateau at the same price as the Auberge. The hotel is right beside the ski hills, very nice lobby, indoor pool, and a bistro to have a family meal. We didn't eat at the main restaurant, it was quite expensive. The rooms were nice, except we could hear everything in the halls, the rooms above us. The beds were extremely hard, so that's why I'm not giving a very good rating. We had a view of the ski hill, which was really nice at night time. There were outdoor hot tubs on the roof overlooking the ski hill. We also went to the spa for a massage, it was pricey and it was just okay. Nothing spectacular.
We would definately go back in the summer time to walk on some trails or bring our bikes to bike riding.
There was also an outlet mall right in bromont, that was nice. We had poutine at the local fast food restaurant. The cheese curds were amazing.

We chose the Chateau Bromont based on its claimed 4-star rating. I skied while my wife caught up on some work and rested.

First the good news: Staff were excellent, friendly and professional; common areas were excellent with a courtyard pool, fireplace, store and Bistro; in the room, there were 2 sinks and a great desk and work chair; there were power outlets in the base of the lamp for easy access for laptops and cell chargers; room was very clean with a delightful view over the entrance toward the ski area; the heater was in the room itself and not in the exterior wall as some are and was quiet; great shower; ski area parking lot was almost full on both days I skied so the chateau shuttle was a real bonus.

Now the disappointments: Ski storage area was up in the parking area; convenient for unloading skis from car but a bit of a schlepp from the front door when using the shuttle; room was dated (even had motel-like security hangers) and definitely not 4-star calibre; the in-room safe was not functional; light switches are poorly located; even though the chateau was not full, immediately adjacent rooms were allocated making for increased noise, especially through the adjoining door; towels and bath mat while clean, were ragged and should have been replaced a while back; The main dining room was the only location for lunch (Bistro was closed) and it was quite pricey; in the bathroom, the toilet was in a cramped location. Hotel seemed to be economizing.

2nd visit to Chateau Bromont; outstanding view as we arrived at night of the well-lit Bromont Ski Area. Quiet, peaceful setting on a winter Sunday evening, after the ski weekend rush. Soaking in sub freezing outdoors on the patio hot tubs, with a panoramic view of the ski slopes, brightly illuminated in a frigid winter evening. Fine breakfast buffet with efficient, understated service.
