We have stayed here through the years. It has been under new ownership to some years now, and we can see it slowly going downhill. I think the new owner are trying to make a profit, but have no experience in keeping the property up. Plugged gutters, bird nests under the awning, broken equipment.
We booked after checking the rates online. We were charged for children, which is unusual; and witnessed walk in customers being charged above what we are. I guess it's whatever the market will bear.
The resturant has Visa sign on the door, but we wre told cash or bedit after our meal was done.
It's all little things, but such a shame for such a fantastic location.

Thank you for your comments. We have owned and operated the Resort now for 20+ years and we work year round to improve the business. We apologize for the plugged gutters but some people do enjoy the bird nests. We have always charged an additional $10/night for people over 12 years in our cabins as posted on our website. We accept visa, mastercard, amex, debit and cash for the RV/campground, cabins and restaurant. There must have been some miscommunication. Again I apologize that your stay was not what you expected, we hope you will come back again and see that we have rectified these issues.

We spent 4 days in July at Dutch Lake for a family reunion. It was wonderful. The lake is so pretty, all the lily pads and so peaceful with no motorized boats allowed. We had a large group being a family reunion and we had all the cabins booked. Myself and my own family stayed in the Salter cabin which is one of the original cabins. It was great. So rustic yet with a new kitchen and bathroom. Our bed was very comfortable. I had a chance to check out everyone's cabin and thought they were all great but I loved our cabin and #5 the best! We enjoyed being able to have a continental breakfast at the restaurant every morning - that was a treat. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely return either for another family reunion or just on our own, we actually wished we had booked for longer as none of us were ready to go yet!

We stayed here for 2 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We stayed in an A-frame cabin on the shore of the lake, waking up to the view each morning was amazing. Lots of wildlife and the howls of wolves to keep you awake! The cabins were dated and fairly basic but this added to the charm and you still have everything you need - TV, fridge, fan, bathroom (v. small!), kitchen etc.

Ate in the Painted Turtle once which was ok, however make sure you sit outside as there is no atmosphere inside! The food was good but the service could have been better - the waitress dropped one of our glasses of wine and they took ages to clear it up. Also the chef was very vocal in his opinion of different nationalities - was heard clearly shouting 'the English are pricks' to be heard by everyone in the restaurant which didnt amuse us at all!! Also there were cobwebs and flies on the windows. We used the gas barbeque the next night which was great - they refill the gas for you for free.

You can take a boat/pedalo on the lake for $10 an hour. Wells Gray Park is gorgeous too - much quieter than the national parks. We would stay here again without a doubt

We have stayed in one of A-frame cabin for 2 nights. The location can't be better which is right at the lake and also right next to the best restaurant in clearwater 'the painted turtle'.
However except the location, you shouldn't expect too much. The cabin itself and the facilities are quite old and the inside is really small. Especially the showeroom included in A-cabin is just big enough for one person to stand in there.
My in-laws stayed in the log cabin which is a bit bigger one but they said that the cabin was quite cold even with the heater and they were also bothered by the noise from the trains during the night which I couldn't hear much.

Thank you for your comments. The Aframes are right on the lake shore but they could use some updating. We are hoping to do that before the 2011 season. We can’t do much with the size (which is posted on our website) but we can improve the interior. The log cabins are original from the 1940s and have been updated through the years. We plan on installing proper heaters/air conditions this year as well. It is great to hear the opinions of our guests, it can only improve our business!

I have nothing against the location of this resort - it has a beautiful setting and the scenery in the area is gorgeous. However, the cold and impersonal reception we received from the owner really soured us on this place. He acted as if we were intruding on his day, rather than giving us at least a minimally courteous reception. The pricing for cabin we stayed in was $109 per night and everyone in our group of 3 agreed we could have gotten better value in the area for our money. The TV in our cabin didn't work either, and the resort office was closed and the managers nowhere to be seen. When I reported the problem on checkout the next day, the owner told me I must have been using it wrong (not the case). He didn't even thank us for our visit or ask if we enjoyed our stay. The cabin had a smaller set of bunk beds (anyone over 6 feet will not be comfortable) and the loft has a double bed but is only accessible via ladder. All in all, we didn't get the value we have come to expect from BC Accomodation providers and would not recommend this location. PS. Despite having a dog-friendly policy, expect VERY STRICT dog restrictions.
